C-5 3D model in Work

Well I probably picked a difficult plane to model with the particular fuselage shape this thing has. I've wanted to model a plane from scratch for a while I just never felt like I had the skills to do so. Right now I have the fuselage, wings, wheel bays done and I'm working on the wing root now. I'll post a few pic's soon. The basic FDM is pretty much done now too. It may get slow here real soon as I'm supposed to head back to the states in the next few weeks. Later!

Here's a screenshot of the 3D Model currently in work. The engines and the the horizontal tail are just to make it look like a plane.

I modeled the new engines for the FDM so it will be the C-5M.

FG Wiki - How To Add Paratroopers

The 3D paratrooper model can be replaced with anything - Cargo, Ammunition Resuplys, Tanks, Jeeps etc.

The model looks good so far!

Maybe over MP you could make it so that another user in a jeep or tank can drive on board and after you land they could just drive off

Considering this topic has been dead for 10 years and that the original poster have not been on the forum for 3 years, the development of the aircraft is most likely abandoned. :wink:

If you are in for a challenge you could look around in existing aircraft and figure out how they are done and then have a go at making one. Learning the tools and making a rough one will take somewhere between 2 weeks to some months, depending on how much time you can spend on it. :wink:

What’s funny is that it’s the xml that takes time (I’m still learning it) — Models are quick and easy for me. But I’ll try - it may take a couple months because I need to wrestle college classes, a job, and this project. Any tips/tricks I should know?

You may have to comment out the material animation setting in Models/C-5.xml, lines 41 to 56.
It is also missing the jet.wav sound file.
