Well it had lots of potential links but this one actually produces the image https://postimg.cc/MnGbqLwW
Hope this helps.

The other two are rejected by the forum even though it says for forums on Postimg When I try the other 2 I get a 404 error in my browser.

we only need the middle image... not all three... i can't zoom in far enough to read the middle one without it being real blurry... please try again with pasting only one image to that site ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

@Robertfm

Remove the second entry from the additional aircraft folder, the one that has the word /rascal.
Remove/delete that entire line. The line above it points to the folder one lever above /rascal and that is all you need. The folder named rascal that actually has the aircraft in it has to be the original name the aircraft developer assigned to it. You cannot rename the aircraft folder name to something you want. It may even be case sensitive ie: Rascal and not rascal.
I know you are inexperienced with this but it isn't rocket science.

I have already shown you, as well as others, the proper way to set up additional aircraft.

For the two aircraft you have been attempting to install manually in the additional aircraft addon folder...

C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\Rascal
C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\IDG-P28

To see these aircraft and be able to use them you point to C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft
That's it, nothing else, one line!

The folders they are actually contained in have to be what the developer of the aircraft intended them to be to work correctly.
in the case of the IDG-P28 it initially was unzipped into the folder IDG-P28-master because of where and how you got it from, a development repository. It was intended by the developer to be used in a folder named IDG-P28 without the "-master".

This should be everything you need to know and do. If you still don't see the aircraft in the launcher then your getting bad downloads or misnaming the directory or the aircraft is obsolete.

If your having this much trouble due to lack of basic computer file structure knowledge you might be better off not to install using the additional aircraft folder method, instead just use the built in "Install" method that shows the entire fgaddon repository of over 300 aircraft.

If you open it in a new page it is then big enough to read. I thought it was small but double clicked and right clicked to open in new page.

I will ignore the derogatory comments and explain exactly what I have done. referring specifically to Rascal.
1. Downloaded from FG Hanger.
2. Opened file.
3. Extracted all files to the Aircraft directory
4. Went to Addon and put in C:\Users\.....\Desktop\Aircraft pressed enter.
5. When that didn't work I included Rascal, how it is spelt on the Hanger list as that is what the name was.

I accept you may find this frustrating but please there is no need to be condescending. If you don't have the patience when I have admitted not being familiar with this and I follow all the instructions I have found and nothing has worked. Just perhaps it's the Teacher not the pupil.

I have now discovered that if I just put a Planes name in Airplane search box it brings up all planes of that type, ie Piper then you press install.

So thanks this appears to be all I needed to know. I am sorry to have frustrated other posters. I will stay away from the Forum in future.

I would just say, never assume everyone has your knowledge, because someone somewhere will know more.

Getting into a new piece of software is always a bit daunting and FlightGear is quite complex and sometimes (often?) a bit rough around the edges. While you may have caused some frustration, do not worry too much about that. All of us was new to FlightGear at some point.

Indeed Johan, as a former 'Educator' I always impressed upon my pupils/students at whatever level if they didn't understand ask until you do. To be honest I still don't understand why downloading and uploading to Add on hasn't worked but the search method does so I'm happy.

@Robertfm I apologize if my tone came off as condescending, I didn't mean to come off that way. If is frustrating when a certain level of computer basics is the critical point in not being able to achieve a desired result.
So again, I apologize.
Please don't let my tone diminish your enjoyment of FlightGear.

Apology accepted. Could I just it's not understanding how computers function. My son is a Computer specialist with the Royal Navy, it was the terminology like, 'one level above' I have no idea what that means, so I looked it up and could find no computer related reference to it. Just an example.

you might want to adjust the filtering there on the craft selection screen... it defaults to filtering out some craft with lower quality builds... i just turn off all filtering so i can see all (784) craft (in 541 directories) that are available in the default FG hanger...

this comes from things being hidden in the GUI world... draw the directories out in the tree format they are actually in and it will be easier to see...

eg:
flightgear/
flightgear/Aircraft/
flightgear/Aircraft/B-52F/
flightgear/Aircraft/B-52F/Dialogs/
flightgear/Aircraft/B-52F/Models/

in the above, Dialogs/ and Models/ are on the same level... they may have deeper levels within them...
from Dialogs/ (or Models/), B-52F/ is one level above...
from Dialogs/ (or Models/), Aircraft/ is two levels above...
from Dialogs/ (or Models/), flightgear/ is three levels above...
from B-52F/, Aircraft/ is one level above...
from B-52F/, flightgear/ is two levels above...
in this example, flightgear/ is at the top level...

does that make more sense?

you can actually see this in your OS if you use the "tree view" instead of the "folder" or "icon" views...

BTW: Welcome to FlightGear! it really is a great community even if there are a few rough patches at times :)

Yep that makes sense, what doesn't still of course is why using a Directory as explained to me the planes didn't populate in addons. Still with the search method under Airplanes section that is now not an issue.
