Manjaro AUR install fails.

Postby ScottBouch » Thu Jun 07, 2018 1:42 pm

Hi all,

I've just rebuilt my PC (Manjaro (Arch) 64 bit) and come to install FGFS using the AUR repo and Add/Remove software GUI, however, it takes forever and eventually falls over. I previously was successfully running Manjaro and FGFS installed in the same manner.

I've successfully installed other packages today form AUR and official repos in this PC rebuild, so don't think it's an issue with my machine.

This is the error message I get:

Code: Select all
make[2]: *** [src/Main/CMakeFiles/fgfs.dir/build.make:6181: src/Main/CMakeFiles/fgfs.dir/__/FDM/YASim/YASim.cxx.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:3214: src/Main/CMakeFiles/fgfs.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [Makefile:163: all] Error 2
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
    Aborting...

The entire install log can be seen here: http://fguk.eu/media/kunena/attachments/2199/fgfs-pamac.txt

Any ideas? is there an issue with the AUR FGFS files?

Many thanks, Scott.

Firstly I would suggest switching to 2018.2.2. Then you can quickly update to 2018.2.3 once that is released. To me the errors look like you have your simgear and flightgear repositories out of sync. Did you remember to recompile simgear?

Hi Edward, Thanks for taking a look,

Is there a guide for this on Manjaro / Arch?

I just went with the FGFS release in the AUR repo. How do I find later versions in the repo?

I also don't know how to recompile simgear..

Last time I did this it was nice and simple through the add/remove software GUI, so I've not had the experiences to guide me through the two points you queried.

The software manager shows "flightgear-data" has ended up installed:

Any guidance is appreciated, thanks

Oh, you're using the Arch Build System. I don't know of any documentation for that. Did you search for and install simgear first:

Then:

Oh, I now see that the AUR archive have mismatching simgear 2018.2.2 and flightgear 2018.1.1 components - that cannot work at all! You'll need to report that upstream yourself ;)

I've tried to install "flightgear-data" by both: GUI and yaourt and, in both times, it was unsuccessful. The system download the files correctly from the repos, but falls in extract and write all the files. :(

Solved! :D :D :D

I've found the solution here: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/cant-install-game-from-aur/45201

The problem was the default size of "tmpfs": It's half of the RAM and, sometimes, is not enough. The solution is to tell yaourt to build outside of "tmpfs". For example:

mkdir ~/.temp

Then

yaourt -S flightgear-data --tmp ~/.temp

Afther installation of flightgear-data, repeat again with flightgear:

yaourt -S flightgear --tmp ~/.temp

GoodJob!<tm>

this might be something for the wiki, too...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
