Integration with OpenCV

Instead of using IR-trackers to control view panning, would it not be possible to use OpenCV-tracking with a normal webcam?

There's a motion sensing example code present in the OpenCV Docs (lkdemo.c), which seems to track head movements quite accurately, and it would be very cool to look around the cockpit using head movement..

I made a small program that uses ARToolkit to do something similar (but it needs a marker card attached to ones head).
It never got completely finished due to lack of time and driver problems with my webcam. I'll hopefully have my development computer back on the net soon and if I can sort out the driver mess (it can't even compile a working kernel atm) I might look into this again.

Anyway, if you like to work on this you can find my program here:

NOTE: I don't think the receiver code for FlightGear made it into CVS, so one has to apply a patch and recompile. I added the old patch file by Alexander Babichev to my web site. Don't expect it to apply cleanly - it is quite old by now.

Cheers,

Anders
