Something for your sim pit? (Eye-following projector)

I found this project on Hack a Day, a blog with lots of do-it-yourself stuff. The original hacker stuff. (Every time I'm visiting that site I want to build something.)

It's a cylindrical screen and a pico-projector steered into the line of sight by some head tracking software. The interesting thing is that you only need high resolution in the foveal field of view, the small area with sharp vision and colour vision. It's a very simple variant of similar techniques used in some high-end military cockpit simulators.

Here's a video of it in use:
Low-level flying — It's all fun and games till someone looses an engine. (Paraphrased from a YouTube video)
Improving the Dassault Mirage F1 (Wiki, Forum, GitLab. Work in slow progress)
