for sure 118.1 does work there - we used it today with about 10 guys.
But it works only with the enlarged range to 100 mi, see http://code.google.com/p/fgcomgui/

May be you could do us (and yourself!) a favor to try that - on 122.75 you never know who will use it too -- worldwide! Pls. tell us tomorrow if we need to go to 122.75 or if you changed it.

Just some experience:
I tried the Approach-Route (sketched by D79) in a DHC2F under FGFS 1.9.1 --> worked very fine
BUT:
I could not set the ADF freq. via the "Radio Settings" menu - I had to tune it directly with the Radio-buttons. So if you have problems with your plane try that. And do not forget to activate the ADF by click onto the ADF-button at the bottom left of the ADF-radio (I hope I remain the only stupid forgetting that!)

Also when circling over the ADF try to keep a banking of about 20° (the second marker in your gyro! - do not use more than 20°!) in order to keep the circle within the valley! There are mountains around it! And of course hold the min altitude 3500. Tomorrow we might advise some of you to start the circling on a higher altitude - in order not to have tooo many on the same altitude - but watch out yourself - altitude separation will only be 500 ft!

Okay, here's my suggestion:

1. Download and install all necessary tiles manually.
2. Switch on TerraSync and "pre-fetch" the airports you want to download the newest scenery for.
3a. Switch off TerraSync.
3b. Switch off TerraSync, and if you mistrust the downloaded "Airports" and "Terrain"-folders, just delete them, but leave the "Models" and "Object"-folders. That would work for most airports where only objects have been placed.

Oh, and jomo just pointed out to me: If you load the TerraSync files into another directory, as you always should, you can easily switch them off later by deleting the TerraSync-directory from the Wizard (in Windows). This article explain explains it:[wiki]TerraSync[/wiki].

Trennor, realizing that this is the actual problem, after all the effort I put into describing some totally irrelevant solution makes me laugh Oh well Trennor, it's not that important, the event is mainly about flying, not looking at buildings, so it doesn't really matter.

In the Goose, you set the NDB frequencies in the NAV1 field. That's not realistic, I think, but that's how it works in that plane.

I have scanned the forum for the "extended range" and "the patch". I could find lots of postings of people talking about it, but not the actual patch.
So I went ahead and looked at the sources and found how to change the default range. I changed it (set DEFAULT_RANGE in fgcom.h to 100.0) and now it seems to be ok to tune to 118.1 at ENSD. fgcom is now reporting VIGRA is in range at 81.2km.
I suppose that is enough for me to join.

Anybody who doesn't like terrasync (like me) can grab the tiles from the repository directly using an svn client. Of course svn sucks too, but we are cursed with it for the moment.

Mifi, I'm running FGCom on a Mac and have been trying to get extended range to work. I don't see a file called fgcom.h. Do you or anyone else have an idea as to what I could do to get range extended working?

Hi everyone,

so it seems I won't be flying alone, that's good

I built a few terminal buildings and a tower for ENSD, as well as a pier for those who land in the water - which is quite common in that region. Next to the pier I placed one of VicMar's buildings, which could be Norwegian (to my eyes). There's also pier at ENAL together with another of Vic's buildings. But be warned, don't bump into the pier. At least in FG 1.9.1, this'll result in a crash. I sent most of it to Martin, who'll probably upload it before the weekend.

Avery nice event. Jomo did very well, esspecially considering the amount of incoming planes. A controler at a major airport handling 23 planes coming in at the same time by himself, would have a serious task....

I didn't like only 1 thing, ATCjomo had a lot of work..., We needed a 2nd Tower...
