TerraGear GUI

Postby Gijs » Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:22 pm

As many of you know, I´ve been working hard on the second release of the TerraGear GUI, founded by Alex Park (maverickalex). Sadly, due to some weird problem with the app software, I sort of lost my work. :(

I quickly redid the genapts (the tool that generates TaxiDraw'n airports into useable scenery) page tonight, which I would like to see tested. Please remember that this is just a test, to see if the application works. Any comments are welcome.

Unzip the download and run TerraGUI.exe

I generated an airport, but hm... I have still same error mesaage during viewing: it "cannot find a file --fg-root=D:\..." And no matter what is after "D:" application can't find it.

What should be there? Or maybe - what am I doing wrong?

What did you select as root? The root should be your FlightGEar data directory (eg. FlightGear/data), that's where you'll find aircraft/, scenery/, models/ etc.
Maybey you can take a screenshot of the filled-in dialog?

I did, what U said - I set track "D:\Gry\Flightgear\data" where FG is. Of course I can give U a screenshoot if Polish language is not a problem. ;)

Image

The message is: System Windows cannot find a file: "--fg... etc. " Make sure filename is correct and try again.

The only root directory I have is exactly there. FG itself uses it.

Just to let you all know, that version 2.1 is close to being released. Currently I am testing it, with the help of D-SKY1, ironing out a lot of bugs.
It will finally include terrain generation, next to airport generation! Expect a release by the end of this week!

Sounds great Gijs,

I would love to try and mirror this for Mac. Perhaps we shall have to have a chat about the possibility of that sometime soon.

Thanks for letting us know. Having reliable tools available is very encouraging for any scenery generation work.

Dear all,

I am trying to create a fine resolution scenery for a while, but I have many problems in this way.
Terragear in command line is crashed in windnows (7) in fgfs-construct with no error command.
Terragear-cd is also killed in Ubuntu after a about 5 min working... So I couldn't use Terragear command line

I have used Flight Gear Scenery Designer too, but ver 0.3.1 (that has a compiled version on sourceforge for windows) doesn't seem look like ones in the tutorial videos of that software, and It hasn't features like editing landcover or changing the vertex number....

Finally, I found Alex post about Terragear GUI, and some snapshot for fgfs-construct and so on... but unfortunately Alex has deleted its link... So I can't download it

I have downloaded Terragear GUI ver 2 from here but It has only genapts part of terragear not fgfs-construct, that I want.... How can get full version of it? the one with fgfs-construct, that you uploaded an snapshot of it ?

Please help me !

Best Regards

Arash

Hi Arash,

I am sorry, but the new GUI has not been released as of yet. I ran into various problems (one of which was that the software Alex chose to create the GUI with has limits in the demo), that need solving first. I am currently looking into a full-supportive language. It shouldn't take too much effort (for a skilled coder), as most of the commands are already created.

Anyone interested in helping (preferably with coding skills) is welcome to drop me a PM ;)

Cheers,
Gijs

In the meantime I started myself in Qt and wow, I got something already! TerraGear functions work, now I need to make the whole GUI work correctly :)
I'll keep you up to date.
