It works for me, it just takes a while to load. Maybe a slow host?

That was a pretty bad decision from a technical standpoint. If avatars are enabled, they should be hosted on the same server as the forum. That way the browsers could reuse the existing http connection instead of having to create dozens of new connections.

We'll have a look at the possibilities. Thanks for the info ;)

Cool - a new forum feature :)

Is it 'legal' to let my avatar switch between 2 liveries randomly? (KLM & United) Or does that count as an 'animated image'? It's already doing it now - I think you hardly notice it because it's so small xD

Well, it doesn't really switch often. I wouldn't call that animated myself, but I'm not a mod.

No, it doesn't switch unless you refresh the page. And even if you refresh, it's just like flipping a coin which one of the liveries it'll pick :P

That is fine. As long as the image itself isn't animated (in this case there are two images).

Why the problem with animated avitars? :?

I'm not trying to be...a wise guy. I'm curious as to why we would allow avatars but not a tasteful animation of say, a FGFS 747 landing perfectly at a well developed airport. Or even a fighter making a high speed pass...Or a stunt plane making an inside loop/roll.

Too much bandwidth?

Just curious. I like animated avatars as long as they are artful and appropriate to the forum theme. I think they encourage individuality and art if done well. They aren't really as distracting as an animated signature and they don't make posts hard to read. Just wondering...

In my opinion its because the majority of the folks here, myself included, see animated avatars as a distraction. :)
