I *assume* that fgrun passes the -S option to terrasync, but I am even less sure about this on the 1.9.1 version. And I don't know how to find out atm. Can someone confirm this, please?

I'm a newbe, here (just downloaded FG few days ago). Being Italian I go around Northern Italy and the Alps (Graubunden Switzerland, just across the border where I live !)

The following Northern italian airport are listed here as improved :
LILN - Venegono, Italy
LIMC - Malpensa, Milan, Italy
LIML - Linate, Milan, Italy

Actually in Malpensa (LIMC) I don't see almost any building ... the file (I downloaded few days ago, end of Novembre 2009)
Objects/e000n40/e008n45/3088874.stg (where LIMC is located, according to UFO) contains just the following:

OBJECT_SHARED Models/Airport/ndb.xml 8.733161 45.639497 226.29 180
OBJECT_SHARED Models/Airport/ils.xml 8.732836 45.639467 226.12 189.99
OBJECT_SHARED Models/Communications/vordme_1.xml 8.734556 45.642656 230.07 180
OBJECT_SHARED Models/Communications/vordme_1.xml 8.734556 45.642656 230.07 180
OBJECT_SHARED Models/Airport/marker.xml 8.727175 45.653089 237.12 180

The tiles on the download page will updated with the next release of FGFS.

Until that you might try TerraSync, we have some threads here in the forum, so it should be easy for you to use this!

Is there a deadline to submit airport layouts and scenery objects for the next release?

My last communication with Martin suggested that it would be around the new year.

John, would you please add KCGS to this list? It may be a couple weeks before the models are imported into the database, but they've all been sent -- as far as I know, my part there is done.

(I still want to model a bit of the surrounding area, especially the campus itself, but I'm not sure how far down my TODO that will end up now that the airport grounds themselves are more-or-less done.)
Cheers,
-Rob.

To those who have been submitting an improved airfield layout ('.dat-file'): Please verify against our web map service to see if the result looks reasonable (as expected) to you. Visit:

http://mapserver.flightgear.org/

.... enter the ICAO ID into the topmost input field - and zoom in.
Note that DGAA is not yet added because I wasn't sent a copy of the respective layout.

Another note: The current set of airfield layouts is now made from Robin's very latest (2008.08) release plus our own user-contributed additions. Apparently someone noticed that TFFJ in Robin's past releases was misplaced, so they moved the runway over to the correct location - but forgot to move the taxiways/apron accordingly. Here's a copy of this setup, would someone please put the taxiways and apron at their correct location ?

Yup, this is what had been planned. Yet I didn't get any feedback about when the software release is actually going to happen - and this time the Scenery release has to be even more than usual in sync with the software release,

Several Hawai'i airports I sent are missing from the database - should I resend?

Cheers

Mmmmh, this would mean that I didn't store these files in my collection - or I missed them for some other reason. I'll re-check. If you already sent these files, a simple reminder about which fields are affected would be sufficient,

Martin.
Edit: I have: TKPN.tpj PHJR.tpj EGNF.tpj KVUO.tpj 1S0.tpj KSEA.tpj - correct ?

I recently was told that the software release process is still in the planning stage. In consequence, it looks like it's still going to take a few weeks until we're going to cut the next Scenery release (surprises not precluded). I'm sorry for the delay, it's not my "fault" - on the other hand I'm pretty delighted because I'm gaining some more time to get my own duties finished ;-)

I've put together a _very_ simple list of airfields of which we already have an improved layout:

http://mapserver.flightgear.org/Apt.Dat.txt

Edit: Please note that the foundation to these updates is Robin's '200808' cycle, which already contains some improvements over what is currently available in FlightGear. So, if you plan to add more updates, please have a look at the 'apt.dat' file of the above release to see if it's already improved there.
The complete list ('200808' plus "our" updates) is available here:

http://mapserver.flightgear.org/apt.dat.gz

Note that there is at least one syntax error in the file which I'm currently trying to find - maybe a buggy submission which slipped through my initial checks ....

Martin,

I don't know when but I see the need to work on KJFK in the future for taxiway layout and ordering preferences. But in the meantime - JFK tower is listed in apt.dat at 0' elevation. Could you change the apt.dat file to show tower viewpoint at 250' so users will have a more accurate viewpoint?

Thanks,
Peter

Fixed. Folks, please try to make sure that:
a) Every piece of tarmac (runway or taxiway) has a lenght > 0 and
b) every airfield has at least one piece of tarmac carrying a runway number - including heliports (H1x, H2x, ....)

Cheers, Martin.
