Reminders:
(1) FGCOM IS REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION. All others are welcome to observe, but we politely ask that you avoid the active runways or other means of interfering with the event.
(2) Only pre-approved candidates are eligible for the Air Traffic Controller positions. All other flights are open to anyone who wants to participate.
(3) Please look over the briefings at http://transgear.treborlogic.com if you've never participated before.
(4) Please plan to take a few screenshots and/or videos of various parts of the event if you are able, for posting here (and on the TGA website) afterwards.

I would definitely like to split the roles of Approach/Departure and Tower/Ground this time, to see how that goes. I'm actually very excited to see and hear that in action. Whether or not I participate as ATC will depend on the availability of my other candidates, I guess. I'm still hoping to fly a leg sometime soon, but I'll wait until I'm comfortable that all the key elements are in place before I commit to that (and take up a flight slot).

I am holding off on opening the West hub just yet... maybe I'll change my mind, if a lot more pilots than last time are interested in participating... but a few former participants have already said they aren't available for this one, so instead of having two semi-boring hubs, I'll opt for one crowded one again, at least this one more time.

So, have at it... let me know who wants to do what.

I still need to set up FGCOM but I can't make it on the 14th.

Something which might be fun for December would be to move to a west coast hub - not KSFO or even KOAK, but perhaps KSLC or KLAS? Someone would need to create scenery for one of these places though... I'm thinking the addition of taxiway signs and such.

I hate that I'm going to miss this.. again..

I knew they'd schedule my one weekend workday in November on the 14th, and they did.

By my above statement, I presume you can glean that I've already been thinking about this. In fact, way back in July when I originally proposed the idea, the concept was to expand to a second domestic hub and then a European hub, once the demand for routes was sufficient. If we get twelve or more pilots interested in participating, I will certainly open up the second hub. With the few that have already declared unavailable for this month, I don't see that happening just yet.

And, since you mentioned it... yes, the location for the USA West hub is in fact Salt Lake (KSLC). The only problem this might present is that there is some high terrain around there, so Approach controllers will have to be even more skilled there than for Baltimore, which is flat and pretty free of high obstructions for the most part. Actually the airports I originally chose to fly into KSLC were KABQ, KAUS, KDEN, KLAX, KOAK, KPHX, and KSEA (originally, each hub was eight airports total; we've since added a few to the East).

I haven't yet chosen all of the airports for the European hub, but I'll do that before demand... umm... demands it. LOL. I will probably open up a thread soliciting "candidate" airports, since I don't know the lay of the land nearly as well there.
Cheers,
-Rob.

I'll do the TGA131 route out of Charlotte again, using the tu154b this time.

cheers

Pending the signing of a code sharing agreement, TGA184 could be flown by a British Airways operated Concorde aircraft with special permit from the FAA for supersonic flight. Travel time is about 1 hour 25 minutes so departure would be at 13:50 and arrival for the return trip at 17:10.

I'll be able to take Approach/Departure role. I have been practicing on FGCOM lately, and I am 99% sure I would be able to attend.

This should be an exciting month. It'll be the first time we have separate controllers running Approach/Departure and Tower/Ground. And I'll pick up whichever longest flight isn't claimed by next Saturday, unless we do something crazy like open up another hub. Keep those assignment reservations coming!

Hi Rob!
Just pointing out that wookierabbit also volunteered for the approach role, so apparently we have 2 approach controllers but no tower!
Also, I suggest you just edit the list in the first post.

I discussed this with him via PM. But thanks for the keen eye.

Will do, if that's the preferred way.

Sorry guys, won't be able to attend this one  - I'll be at a wedding. Was looking forward to the dual controllers.

Oh well, will have to wait until December.

Just to set the record straight and give an update from my previous message, I am assigned as Tower. By the way, do you think my presence (my first TGA event involvement) is causing everyone to declare absent for the event? It might be the Inca curse. I don't know. But as MDTerp said a while back, "keep those assignment reservations coming."

Could I take this route - TGA122 - KRDU-KBWI-KRDU - in a 777-200ER?

Also I am new to this event, so what does this mean? // 1430-1630 // I assume 1430 I take off from KRDU and arrive back at KRDU at 1630 after landing at KBWI, Is this right?

Thanks,
Hovkid

I don't really care who is doing the tower as long as they do a good job at it. I'm not coming because my work scheduled me to work that day. It has nothing to do with you wookie.
