I hope you enjoyed the evening, even without a proper plan ! :) Our little darling is doing well and has opened his eyes today ! :) He's finally sleeping now so I've come around to post some shots from last Wednesday:

That crocodile is waiting for me …

@Lester: Are you sure the Cygnet has speedbrakes in real life ? If not, you might want to consider removing them from your FDM as well ! (even when there's no speedbrake lever in the cockpit, the speedbrake can be still activated by pressing Ctrl+b, as long as it is implemented in the FDM)

! :D Actually the speed brakes are tied to opening the canopy inflight so the plane slowly loses altitude and speed. I thought it was a clever repurposing of the speed brake function!

at the moment you Manchester-Barton to IoM flight is published in the information thread.
We have been to Lukla last week.

That's OK , it gave me a chance to exercise an old Lukla terrain overlay I had made back in 2016

@Lester: okay, that of course is quite a genious idea I would've never thinked of ! ;) But then, consider renaming the corresponding FDM items so no one will get confused like me ! ;)
As for the Cessna Caravan's missing thrust, do I see right that you used the YASim version ? Then it's no wonder … try out the JSBSim one, it worked great for me !

The Lukla event was fun! Although it was more on the fun side, than a successful trip.
One part of the fun was spotting wreckage of those falling victim to the challenging conditions (pilot list deleted in shot to protect identity).

Unfortunately no time next week!

In terms of performance sufficient. Himalaya just remains a challenging flying environment .

Runway Luka was a bit short for the Citation II. Very tempting to try, but leads to collateral damage.

It would stretch a bit the definition of general aviation, but there is at least one GA-707 around, flown by a guy who has read too much weird books.

What about a Texaco-event with aerial refueling?

Would be in minimum two weeks.

hmmm [looks at the xbox controller with flakey joystick and wonders weather there is time to rig up a hall effect one in time]

ok, I'm in if I can make it. (System back up and running by the way - I was so grateful that my past self cloned the OS drive)

Lukla's real runway has considerably more gradient, and it takes some skill to not splatter your airplane.

Yeah, Lukla in TerraSync is just ugly. But in D-ECHO's custom scenery it's very nice ! :)

I don't know about you guys. My recollection of a Texaco event is usually a limited filling of gas the equivalent of aircraft hypermileaging. You're allowed to fill just once with a limited amount of fuel and you attempt to go as far as safely possible on that smidgen of petrol. Flying a big pane while refilling from a airborne tanker is not a Texaco Event.

If we're going to do a Texaco event there should be standards. The plane can only be filled once, while on he ground with ignition off. And it should be economical but draggy enough that you can't fudge the sim with thermals and sneakily refilling fuel in flight. Gerard Robin's Stampe is perfect for this event
