Hello! I am new to these forums, and pretty new to flightgear itself! I just wanted to say hi to everyone here. Does anyone have any tips?

  • Be curious and look around in the launcher, it is more to it than first meets the eye.
  • If you are new to flight simulators:
    • Begin with small single engine aircraft. It is easier to learn the basics of flight with them, and it will still apply to larger aircraft.
    • YouTube is full of tutorials. Look for taxing, takeoff and landing tutorials for the aircraft you are trying to learn, as well as crosswind (wind from the side) and cross country (navigation) tutorials.
  • When trying out new aircraft and the critical airspeeds ("V-speeds"), like stall, climb and cruise airspeed are not documented, a good estimate can usually be found at the EUROCONTROL performance database.
  • It is always a good idea to use the search function in the forum and the FlightGear wiki before asking on the forum.

Good luck and have fun! :D
