Random building density

Graphics issues like: bad framerates, weird colors, OpenGL errors etc. Bad graphics ar usually the result of bad graphics cards or drivers.
Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).
- please upload a screenshot of the problem.

If you experience FlightGear crashes, please report a bug using the issue tracker (can be also used for feature requests).
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article. If you are seeing corrupted/broken textures, please see this article.

Random building density

In FG2019.1.2 I had /sim/rendering/random-building-density=10 and FG generated nice density cities :

But version 2020.2.1 ignores this parameter and displays only few random buildings. Where is problem ?

I didn't even know that this option exists!
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

Are you using the same scenery?

For architectural reasons, the random buildings code tries to place the buildings within the triangles of the scenery, without overlapping on the next triangle, which might be a road or cause overlap with other random buildings. More recent scenery has such small triangles that there isn't any space for buildings within the triangle.

I haven't attempted to fix this, as osm2city has far better algorithms for building placement than we can create within FG itself.

Hmm. That’s interesting and suggests that there’s been a regression. I will take a look.
