3) I am almost finished with a totally brand new flight control system. I am just waiting on Leto/Necolatis to finish some stuff before merge. You will then enjoy the real control system of the Viggen from manuals, schematics, etc. It has a standard hydromechanical control system with added dampers in the "STICK" (SPAK) mode.

Kind Regards,
Josh

OE-LML wrote in Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:37 pm:1) Tank selection: Is there a way to manually select which tank(s) is/are used? The plane always selects one of the left tanks first and so it starts to roll to the right.

The engine only use fuel from the main tank, But yes you are right that fuel is transferred from the left first when you fly level. This is how the system was designed but the tank is small, so it wont make you roll alot.

OE-LML wrote in Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:37 pm:2) Flaps only extend when gear is down: Is there a way to extend flaps for low speed flying?

No, it is tied to the gear.

OE-LML wrote in Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:37 pm:4) Radio navigation: At the moment I'm using the AJ-37. But where can the ADF- and VOR-"needles" be displayed? The only thing I can make work is the DME gauge at HUD.

The Viggen didn't have VOR or ADF navigation. It had DME, waypoints and TILS.

OE-LML wrote in Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:37 pm:5) Unreadable displays: On the JA-37Di version the radar and navigation display is almost unreadable if the sun is shining and the Shader options of "Model" are set to maximum. (The same is true of the F-16 too.) Is this a common issue or is this because of my old notebook graphic card with some not up to date drivers?

Do you fly with ALS? I would like to see some pictures of this problem, maybe I can improve it.

About 5): Yes, ALS is on. The problem is, that if the sun seems to shine into the cockpit, the radar screen and navigation display are very, very bright. Almost unreadable unless the "Model"-slide is fully set to the left. Sry, at the moment I'm too dumb to load screenshots up. I'm sure the F-16 is affected too. F-14 and F-15 probably as well.

Once we get compositor pipeline in FG, the shadow from the wall behind the pilot will prevent this from happening.
Until then maybe I can lower the reflected sunshine when the sun is behind the pilot.
I will try to to make it better.

Correct. You have to trim, but the system damps to improve stability on q (aero pitch rate), Nz (G accel), and also has some controllers at high Mach to "sharpen" control inputs with Nz.

@Octal:
Is the new flight control system already with the Viggen in your GitHub repository available?

Hello friends!

Today I announce that the new flight control system and autopilot I have been working on since February 2019 (over 1 year!)

Featuring
- Each surface of the control system is individually simulated with proper roll/pitch mixing. If one fails for whatever reason, the control effectiveness will be felt
- STICK dampers smooth the response of the system
- Gearing changes the deflection of surface vs stick
- Everything simulated according to manuals provided and informations
- ATT and ALT autopilots modes simulated as per manuals
- Autothrottle including AoA and KMH modes simulated
- and more!

Now the Viggen flies much more realistically. Please enjoy!

And of course thanks to Nikolai V Chr and Colin for providing documentation and testing, and finding bugs.

Kind Regards,
Josh
