I know my way around south of EDDF and EDFE and would like to practice approaches from SOUTH to either one of them.
To me this would be nice and challenging if I could simulate together with you guys flying into the airspace and navigate to my destination using COMMS.

Thanks for the flowers - that helps a lot after all the problems and stupid words - especially from those little kids that always forget to switch on their brain prior to operate there big mouth.

In general I have no problems with CONTROLLED VFR-flights. Problems I see are:
1. Using COMMS: we use SIDs + STARs from https://vatsim-germany.org/pilots/aerodromes/EDDF - or vectors given by ATC (may be supported by way-points (VOR, ILS, ADF). Those may be used different in STAR/SID and COMMS. There I would see the biggest problem - because I would not like to display as well SID/STAR as also COMMS on my radars - that is overcrowded already with all the details shown.

2. I dislike the use off EDFE! Because I have already 4 Runways in use mixed with IFR and Visual approaches - and in days with a lot of traffic (and most pilots not yet using mumble) the workload would grow unmanageable. But we could separate by using 07L/25R for your small/slow planes.

3. I strongly recommend to use mumble - because VFR usually needs a lot more communication! And especially more typing-needs would hamper the operation !! (MUMBLE is: flightgear-radio.autosoft.fr port 64738) -> for installation see: http://www.emmerich-j.de/mumble/mumble.html.

So I guess we could satisfy/support VFR procedures.
Thanks for your interest in EDDF-Triangle.

Hello Josh, hopping now all is well in your health problem.

A new mumble server has been activated to make up for the absence of the historic server and I think everyone has since switched to it [at least Mumble users]

I was also able to connect fine, but with Mumble 1.2.19, so maybe this is related to a recent change in mumble

mumble problems?

I use Mumble 4 times a week 4h with several others during our regular EDDF-Triangle sessions.
our server is: flightgear-radio.autosoft.fr 64738
We did see no problems since a long time.

Maybe whoever has problems should report it together with
- what Mumble version (my is from Ubuntu libraries, version 5.12.49
- what operating system (my is Linunx/Ubuntu)
- since when / where / what event etc.

Hi jomo,

There isn't a version 5.12.49 of Mumble. Check the about page of Mumble to see your version. My recent upgrade to Xubuntu 20.04 must have given me an upgraded version of Mumble from 1.2.19 to 1.3.

If you are using 1.2.19, then that's the problem in a nutshell, the server's SSL version need to be reconfigured for Mumble 1.3. If you yourself are using Mumble 1.3, then something strange is happening indeed.

Ok - little mismatch on my side:
* Mine is: "Mumble (1.3.0+dfsg-1)"
* And: : "This program uses Qt version 5.12.4."

But ok or not ok depends not just on my installation - but also on those to whom I talk! And that are many many others !
Again we use it 4*4 hours a week --- not just me - but together with many others, as well users as platforms as .... See All our movies the last half year: There are no mumble problems.

Thus I guess it would be worthwhile to know on which systems/Environment it does not work !!
