New Zealand scenery download .

Postby Professor.S » Fri Feb 07, 2020 2:02 am

I have compiled this New Zealand scenery using GPL v2 OpenStreetMap data . The terrain textures are made from default FlightGear textures which I modified, therefor should be compatible to use with Terrasync . The scenery covers all of New Zealand and outer islands .

I'm downloading now, this looks very nice, thank you! Did you follow any tutorials? I would like to do this for Yosemite National Park in California some day.

Great! And a big improvement to the standard scenery!

But the Milford Sound airport should get its runway fixed :)

I realise this scenery is excellent and very accurate , I hope the FlightGear Developers replace the TerraSync scenery of New Zealand with this scenery as I have created this scenery for this purpose. I see you enjoy Gliding ,I personally recommend taking off from NZLE .

Yes I have sent message To: flightgear-scenery@lists.sourceforge.net "Hello, I have created a much more detailed New Zealand scenery for FlightGear which is much more detailed than the current region available in TerraSync . I am requesting this region to replaces New Zealand in the TerraSync Server . Link to scenery information,
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=36892 . "

I'd suggest to send a copy of your e-mail to the flightgear-devel list. The scenery list is not very active so your message may not reach the right people.

@professor.S what Gijs said... that scenery list is rarely used... most all dev list traffic is in flightgear-devel and most of the others are residuals left for historical reasons and to retain those posts...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Message has been sent to the suggested , now all we need is someone to populate all the Airports in the list of my New Zealand scenery with these http://wiki.flightgear.org/Project3000 tools . I am on Linux Mint. I get a lot problems . Suggest the optimum of Linux distros to use this with .

has it been updated to python3 yet? i think i remember seeing something about that work being started but don't recall seeing anything about it being finished... that wiki page says that p3 won't work...

also the "status and gallery" section says the project is alive and well but there's only an entry for 2017...
