Joystick Calibration Panel

Postby Robertfm » Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:34 pm

When I open the panel from the drop down menu it is not full calibration tool. Also this morning very few of my flight controls are working. They were fine yesterday. Obviously I can't access the settings because of the small panel. What has caused this and how can I get full panel back please. It's on both my versions of FG so not Version specific.

Edit: I reset configuration and I got it back, of course I then had to reprogram all my devices. Happy days.

Issue with this again this time the indicator boxes when you press a button are not working again. Neither are the axis indicators for Aileron etc. What is also odd is two bottom boxes have the X fixed, which of course it shouldn't. The Joysticks still calibrate but it is of course hard work. Is there a fix .

Just to verify your hardware, you have a Saitek/Logitech yoke with the Bodnar fix, correct?
When you revert to standard joystick setup in the joystick config, do you lose aileron and elevator control? Everything else works ok?

I haven't used the Yoke for some time as it was playing up. I have been using T16000M which the calibrator works fine. I reverted to my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, and whilst it is recognised by FG Calibrator when you press the buttons they don't show up on the calibrator interface. However by a lot of trial and error I have calibrated it. When I first got the T16000M it did the same thing. It's odd.

Can you be a little more specific as to what you mean by "playing up"? My yoke works great now.
I can't help you with the FG joystick setup. It didn't work for me.

Re Yoke despite the mods it started to bind, and was not responsive and frankly it was hard work, physically.

I know that symptom. That is the direct result of the detent springs. Mine are gone, replaced with rubber bands. My yoke elevator is smooth as silk, yet still has the center position.
Edit: I use one hand on the yoke and the other on the throttle, just like IRL.

I digressed. You may need to edit the xml file for your joystick to effect changes reliably. That is what I had to do when I did the Bodnar dead zone fix.
It is not the norm, but it worked for me. I mean, this is open source.

FWIW: the joystick panel button press indicators are working here but i'm on the very latest code from the "next" branch in the repository...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Thanks. With the Joystick I just had a thought the Bodnar was still linked to ailerons and the Yoke was still on for throttles. I unset it in Calibration tool and the aileron indicator in HUD which was offset is now aligned.

As for the springs in Yoke, I also did that Mod and all did work fine for a while. When I get time I will strip it down again. Thanks again.

As I said they are working for my T16000m now it's mapped but I had to do it blind originally. With the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick it set up fine originally, but I haven't used it for over a year, so couldn't recall what the buttons did, which is why I found out the indicators weren't working. I know it's odd, but hey ho when is it not for me.
