Nice work!
As for the artifacts, I've seen the same with buildings on steep slopes - I wonder would taking the average slope if the terrain is steep help?

A new scenery for Kansas has been made available at http://wiki.flightgear.org/Areas_popula ... ty_scenery. It includes files for both traditional buildings and shader based buildings for the development version of FG.

And a new scenery for the Falkland islands now available at http://wiki.flightgear.org/Areas_popula ... able_areas. Not really interesting, but small enough to do testing e.g. shader for compositor.

For those of you that haven't been watching the years of development happening with osm2city, or havent used it in awhile, it might be a good time to check it out either for the first time or reacquainting yourself with it. Mad respect for the dedication of those working on it, it's come such a long way. It is really helping to enhance the scenery in FG. Thank you to those developers for your dedication and sticking with this project.

This does look very cool indeed! Hope it doesn't slow my laptop down...(Probably will)

Is there much being done through Europe at all? I hear Spain is well covered and the Netherlands, but that's it? And obviously London. Just wondering if there was any progress on the gaps between them. I know there are a lot of buildings to generate though So I can understand that this may be a difficult area to produce

It all needs updated to the new method but yeah it took about a week to do London itself. So it takes a while to do all the cities ;)

How accurate exactly is this procedural generation? Are all the buildings that are shown, the same dimensions of the buildings that are there irl? Or is it just a rough estimate on how many buildings are in the area then randomly generated around roads? How exactly is it done?

Also how much effect on performance does it have on FPS?

It depends... the base data comes from open streetmap (hance the name). If osm has building dimensions available, these are used (note that often the actual height is missing even when other dimensions are present). If there are no information available, by default the buildings will be missing in the scenery too. There is an option to turn guessing on. Then ofc. is the result not 100% accurate.

On my intel integrated GPU the performance it is almost none...

Iceland is now available with building data compatible with older FG versions (or if you prefer the look of buildings in mesh) and compatible with the newest FG version 2020.1.

The airport of Reykjavik happens to be the new default airport for 2020.1.
