1979 Piper Warrior

Postby Robertfm » Sun Dec 08, 2019 10:29 pm

This plane doesn't have panel light switches but uses ( & 9 apparently to bring them on and adjust. I have tried but they don't work. Any suggestions please.

Another lighting issue. The plane has a switch to activate Nav light and strobe. However all that illuminates is a tiny white light on the tail plane. I have checked control/lighting and whilst it shows Nav light as 'true' The strobe light is false and will not alter to true.

Anyone with any knowledge of this plane who can assist please.

you are posting here in the interface section. it will probably not get too much attention here.

nav lights work
beacons work
strobes work
landing lights work

problem might by situated elsewhere. sure you are using the correct buttons?
the fixed light is the nav light

edit. wording improved

Since posting I've noticed very tiny red and green lights only visible if I look at the end edge of wings. As I said the strobe light was a tiny white light also and none of them flash or stand out.

As for buttons, the left hand half moon shaped white button is shown as Nav & Strobe. Then there are 4 other standard toggle buttons and then another half moon for the panel lights.

one of the buttons is split in half. anti-collision light. fin is the beacon, wing the stropes in the more common terminology.
nav lights do not flash

check the aircraft at night. are you sure, it does not look correct?

yes, the textures are black at night.

I am certain it doesn't look correct. I noticed the issue because it I was returning to my home airport in the dark. The red and green lights didn't show up as I said.

It doesn't scroll. Are you confusing the different warriors. This one as a half moon button on the left and on the right. The one on the left operates opposite to the one on the right. on left black dot disappears when on. It disappears on the right one when off (panel lights). When you use shift% a red beacon on the tail plane flashes. As you said the split switch operates the anti collision beacons. This is what I see with wing lights are on.

ok, it really helps to speak about the same aircraft ;)

of course you will not see the wing lights from aft, because in the aft sector you see only the stern light. so nothing wrong with your picture. nav lights can be small.

the positioning of other craft's lights may be more outboard or have different protective lenses so some of the light is directed rearwards... in your picture, move your view around to the side of the craft and see if you see the lights... also, you should be able to see them from in front of the craft if you are far enough back away from the craft...

let's also not forget about some modelers and programmers may be slightly more adept at getting the lights right so they are not overly bright or too far outboard or even too large ;) i'm not saying that is related to this but i recall my attempts at adding some lights to some craft that don't have them and my initial attempts were very not realistic... that changed over time as i got more used to the coding and what data affected which portion of the items i was working with...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Have now checked. The lights are only illuminated objects. There is no corona defined and also no ALS shader defined.
Only the strope lights have a corona.
You must look close and realy carefully to see the light objects.
But all lights work correctly with the switches.

Thanks for all your help. I still haven't found a cockpit switch that illuminates the red flashing beacon on the tail plane. It seems it's just shift %. No big deal now I know re WoodSTokk's explanation.

The third switch is a double switch labeled with 'ANTI COLL'.
The left side 'FIN' switch the red beacon on the tail fin.
The right side 'WNG' switch the strobes on the wing tips.
