The IDG MD-11 has now totally rewritten IDGs. (lol)
I'm talking the Integrated Drive Generators - now we simulate the CSD and RPMs properly, including the GCR relay and PMG. When the SD is added you will notice the voltage and frequency of the generators will fluctuate sometimes with fast power changes as the CSD adjusts gear ratio to keep a good steady RPM. Like the real airplane, our CSD is based on a 8000RPM oil drive CSD.

Kind Regards,
Josh

I just performed a test flight on your awesome MD11 (MD11F), it flies amazing! I am really inclined to invest some time in getting proficient with it, I really missed a realistic cargo jet.

There is one issue I had during my test flight though: How do I set the NAV course for a VOR/ILS?

I couldn't find a knob for it. Looking online I saw that in some other sim it uses the VOR<- and ->VOR buttons on the side of the RANGE+ RANGE- buttons for the display. But in this model what does buttons do is toggle the VOR/DME/ADF info on the lower corners of the display.

Is there a way to set CRS somewhere I missed? Or do I have to mess with the property tree for now?

Edit:
I found this
I am aware that you cannot control the NAV display at the moment. That functionality will be restored shortly.

Hi asr!
Thanks for compliments. Actually that is old. You can control the display now!
However the vor arrows do not adjust nav frequency. That is only done thru the MCDU which isn't yet working. You can use F12 dialog Radio Settings. Soon hope MCDU will function and RAD NAV will be one of the first pages to do.

I would recommend only use PMDG MD-11 tutorials on YouTube. Other MD-11s aren't realistic.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hi Josh,

sorry if the issue described below was already closed, I am still on the "old" Flight Gear and will try an update tonight to be able to use the newest MD11 files.

I figured out, that while the MD11 is feeding from tank 2 only (initial condition was both tanks 1 full, both tanks 3 full and tank 2 full), it seems to be consuming only one engine's fuel although all three are performing normally. After almost 5 hours flight both tanks 1, both tanks 2 are still full and Tank 2 has still over 40.000 pounds inside. From the indications on the center screen I would have expected the consumption having been about three times as much.

After manually reducing the tank 2 content to below sum of tanks1 and sum of tanks2 content, the total pounds value on the bottom of the settings window is decreasing much faster, roughly with factor 3.

Cheers

@LH-9920,
The latest MD-11 STILL supports 2018.3.1, we haven't made the switch yet. Please try the latest version and let me know if the bug still exits.

Josh

Thanks for the info. I updated the MD11. FGear Ubuntu repository seems to be not yet ready for FGear 2019.

Still, tank 1 inboard and tank 3 inboard seem to stick at 33980 pounds, in case all the five tanks I mentioned were full and engines are running. The "total" figure at the bottom, as well as the tank 2 figure decrease quite slowly.

As soon as tank 2 is less than 40480 pounds, tank 3 inboard and tank 1 inboard start to decrease normally and the "total" figure at the bottom decreases 3 times as fast as before (as it should).

Funny thing is, in case you set e.g. inboard tanks to 20000 pounds and afterwards set tank 2 to full, tanks 1 and 3 inboard levels are increasing much faster than tank 2 is decreasing (I would expect tanks 1 and 3 are filled from tank 2, but the "total" figure is increasing, ).

Ok, something is clearly wrong here possibly with polarity, I'm going to check this out ASAP.

Found it.... I forgot to add the transfer to the tank 2 flow rate - thus tank 2 did not subtract any fuel when feeding tanks 1 and 3! SORRY!

Thanks for reporting my friend!!! Revision 832 fixes this.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Working on implementing the experimental aerodynamics data I found into the FDM. So far so good. (aero branch)

Also - I have improved the LSAS system handling. But I gotta clean up and rewrite it a bit, its a bit messy.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Fixed incorrect calculation of AC Frequency Hertz in the Electrical System.
Also fixed the red/yellow overspeed bars appearing slightly before they should.
