Took some screens of the Pterosaur.. possibly useful for wikipedia page or just the fg wiki as it's one of the most striking examples of flight.
Hawaii/Island of Kauai
I've been waiting for someone to post a shot with Pterosaur since the weeping walls waterfalls near PHLI were added
Every shot & angle in any weather looks beautiful around here. It's a very poignant craft to fly as well
Ran into two complications:
- The weeping wall waterfalls have been knocked out a bit by the recent terrain update on terrasync. Coords: lat=22.07150467, lon=-159.4984764
- The JSBSim seems to now complain about a couple of missing operands or something with Pterosaur - but it still loads. Retracting wings by holding down "W" seems to have a broken animation.
The trick is that rainbows form a 40 degree circle around the point opposite the sun (anti-solar point).
If the time of day places the camera in between the rain volume and the sun, a rainbow is caught every time. Picking a view, and then trying a few re-rolls of live/custom weather or scenarios works - or flying around to put the craft between the sun & rain. Generally just having a low-ish sun will give plenty of bows during a flight - and clouds & rain are more likely with METARs as the day progresses.
