Misunderstanding due to similar callsigns causing two airliners on crossing runways to initiate takeoff. :?

That was close!!! Sweet Lord! Nothing serious, other than overheated brakes, happened... Great job!

Cirrus SR22 ferry flight from California to Sidney, Australia get a fuel transfer problem just past the point of no return on the way to Hawaii and have to ditch using the ballistic parachute. Really well edited video.

Wow. Those ferry pilots are certainly amongst some of the bravest pilots - it must take nerves of steel to fly a tiny aircraft over an awful lot of water!

Some are sheer horror stories, like the guys who tried to ferry a Cessna 337 SkyMaster from USA to I think it was Sweden and did not have it fully winter kitted and with no particular survival training. Both engines sputtered out at about the latitude of Baffin Island in the middle of the winter, and the aircraft took all the emergency equipment with it when it sunk, except their dry suits. With no shelter, emergency beacon or light it was a cold, cold night on an ice sheet, but they were found the next morning and they survived.

Skymaster Forum - Skymaster Arctic Circle Ditching (archived) Interesting thread with the news story, the story from one of the pilots and, being a forum, a lot of analysis.
