Need Help with WIII (Sukarno-Hatta Int'l Airport)

Postby PK-DNZ_107 » Thu Aug 08, 2019 3:19 am

Hello,

WIII is one of the airports that I flew a lot (aside of WADD & WSSS). But something in the scenery, or maybe landmass, is a bit off. As you can see below there's some kind of green pyramid raised in the middle of taxiway between taxiway SP2 and SP1 near runway 07R-25L.

Do you know how to fix this as it's quite annoying to see every time I flew in/ out of the airport.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

Kind Regards,

Juliandi

This is a bug that sometimes happens during scenery generation. There seems to be a new world scenery build coming so hopefully it will be fixed then. For the meantime, I'm preparing a little custom scenery to fix this :)
[EDIT]: See here https://github.com/D-ECHO/Jakarta :)
Btw, where did you get those beautiful buildings from?

My friend send it to me and he got that from FG Indonesia on FaceBook.

Anyway, you could get it from my Google Drive link here.

Overall, the building looks good but the custom scenery looks kinda old as it doesn't represent the current/ actual state of the airport complex as there are some newer building, terminal, and runway.

If you could manage to enhance this airport that would be awesome! :D

Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm very bad at 3d-modelling so I won't be able to enhance the airport. The ground layout used in my custom scenery (from the X-Plane Gateway) though is already much better than the Terrasync one

I just try this git that you share, and I must say: great job! the taxiway looks real now, the yellow line is also visible on all of the taxiways, and the green pyramid has finally gone :D
I could also see new buildings in the Jakarta area, nice touch there.
Thanks bro!

No problem, the scenery already looks good now. Thanks!

You should ask FG Indonesia on FaceBook to contribute the models to the scenery database. That would be the first step to facilitate collaboration, as then everyone will be able to use and improve on it.

Hi Edward, thanks for your suggestion. It's a long shot but I'll try it anyway.

Hello D-ECHO,

So I tried the new version of FG (2018.3.3) and move all of the previously downloaded scenery from inside the previous FG version. If you should ask, yes I didn't create a custom scenery folder but instead use the folder inside the FlightGear.app (which contains loads of folder).

Then I gave another shot of the custom scenery of WIII that you've created before and combined it with the terminal buildings that I had earlier. And then, this thing happened:

All of the customs building seems to float

But if you change your view/ angle it didn't appear floating...

until...

you crossed on top of it. This is supposed to be an apron or something, but somehow it didn't attach to the ground

I wonder what happened... and is there a way to fix this or should I just remove that custom building?
Thanks.

Regards,

Juliandi

ps: in case you're wondering, I'm running FG on Mac :)

Hi Juliandi,
this seems like the apron concrete is part of the custom model, this is not a good way of implementing this and should be removed, best by opening it in blender or similar and removing the concrete. About the buildings floating: terragear (the program used to generate scenery) does not output the same elevation each time you run, so the models e.g. were placed to fit the terrasync scenery, but in my scenery, the airport is located a little (let's say 1m or so) lower.

This is great. I managed to get the scenery before it was lost.
I deleted the concrete to so that the apron becomes useable. Unfortunately the buildings are slightly out of scale and don't quite align.

Hi guys,

So WIII has a new operating runway, 06/24, just next to 07L/25R. I'd like to try creating this new 3000 meters long runway.
Is there any easy way to build this additional runway?

Unfortunately no. To change the layout of an airport one would have to regenerate the scenery. Additionally, regenerating scenery tile(s) will cause seams to surrounding existing tiles (clearly visible elevation differences and often open gaps), meaning the entire landmass surrounding new tiles has to be regenerated. :(

That sounds complicated...
Thanks.
