Use the rudder to counter the motion, don't center it.

Yes you need to apply constant right pedal, as the engine will be pulling constant left. However, once you level off, you need much less rudder, and once you reduce power from full to cruising, you may need none at all, depending on the aircraft, and configuration.

Kind Regards,

As this thread is about trim I thought I would ask here. I have looked extensively to find what the difference is in Calibration for Trim.
There is Trim to Rudder,Aileron,Elevator: 'Position' and also Trim to R,A,E: 'INC'. What are the 2 different settings for.

which craft and where are you seeing these trim nomenclatures?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

It's not about planes per sey, it's in the Joystick calibration section. There are two different possible settings for each trim ie Position & Inc.

ahhh... in that case, i would guess that position sets to a specific position whereas inc increments/decrements by values/detents...

eg:
a button uses position to set full flaps and another button uses position to set zero flaps
a button uses inc to move the flaps from detent zero through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc and another button decrements from the current position towards zero

They are trim features not the actual Rudder, etc. which operate off different settings. I am making an elevator trim wheel using a Pot with multiple turn facility so need to find the right neutral setting. Are the Elevator Trim INC going to do that.

oh! i don' t know how that works other than FG expects -1 to 0 to 1 where 0 is dead center... so whatever you are detecting from the pot will need to be scaled to be between -1 and 1... i'm fairly sure that decimal values are allowed... possibly out to 6 or 8 places like numerous other real numbers can be...

there are some topics here on the forum about building cockpit simulators where you sit in them and they mimic the actual cockpit... those guys would have much better knowledge of how to do this, i think... i just don't know which subforum to suggest for you to look in :?

[edit]

maybe in the Support - Interfacing subforum...
