OpenRadar not starting, on openSUSE Leap 15.0

Postby [Lemmy] » Sun Mar 03, 2019 8:07 pm

I'm trying to run OpenRadar on openSUSE Leap 15, and it dies with the following output:

Code: Select all

I've the same issue with OpenRadar and Leap 15...
Open a console and do:

sudo zypper in java-11-openjdk-devel

Thi s will install the packages: java-11-openjdk java-11-openjdk-devel java-11-openjdk-headless (170Mb)

When finished, try:

java -jar Openradar.jar

Same happens with normal UBUNTU:
I needed a new Ubuntu-Installation:
- so I did try the new avail Ubuntu 19.04
- and because Iava 8 is not available any more I used Java jdk 11
--> resulted in the same error.

There are several tips in the internet about that "Assistive Technology" - including leaving it out completely, or blank lines or whatever. I gess that needs an JAVA-developer for checking our OpenRdar.jar.

Wolfram: If you read this: Coulld you pls comment on that?

Having the same issue here on Manjaro. I did some cursory research, and it looks like AWT (which is referenced many, many times in the OR codebase) doesn't work properly on OpenJDK 9 through 11 (or, for that matter, on Oracle). Downgrading to OpenJDK 8 is a temporary workaround, but it's not perfect...OR seems to have stability issues on it. Kind of a catch-22 at this point!

Unfortunately my coding skills lie with Python, not Java, so it looks like the only true solution rests with Wolfram, whenever he returns...
It's been way too long, but I'm back...and plan to stay that way. I hope.
