So how do I get it into addons I've put it in a folder named custom. Do I simply add that. Then what? Sorry to sound dumb but on this type of thing I am. I follow instructions and when they don't work I'm lost.

Just make sure the folder doesn't have -master or -3d on it ;)

You're welcome. You need to always remove -master or you'll get a error on loading sim or a blue yellow.

Note that we pointed you to the folder containing IDG-PA28. If you point to the IDG-PA28 folder itself it won't find anything.

Kind Regards,
Josh

C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\Rascal I created this Directory which addons sees but says their is no plane, and yet it was extracted straight into it and all the components are there when I open the file.

You need to point to the correct folder level as well.

C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\Rascal
C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\IDG-P28
C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\c172p

To see all of these you point to C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft

Sorry I don't understand what you mean. My directory is the same as the one you suggest without the planes. This is what I inputted and then Rascal showed as an option but it was then it said there was no plane.

Your local aircraft directory is 'C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\' and you have this path also added in the launcher as 'Additional aircraft folder'. Right?

Inside the 'C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\' directory, you have a directory named 'IDG-PA28'. Right?

Inside the 'IDG-PA28' directory is at least one file with the ending '-set.xml' (here it is 'PA28-161-160-set.xml' and 'PA28-161-180-set.xml'). Right?

If one answer of the above questions in 'no', then there is the problem.

In case of the PA-28, it looks like this:
C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\IDG-PA28\PA28-161-160-set.xml

The first part (C:\User\myiD\Desktop\Aircraft\) is the directory that you should have in the launcher as 'Additional aircraft folder'.
The second part (IDG-PA28\) is the directory of the aircraft itself.
The third part (PA28-161-160-set.xml) is the starting point for FG to load the aircraft.

So, the first part is a directory for many aircrafts.
The second is the directory for one specific aircraft (the name is important).
There can be more than one set-file inside the aircraft directory. As example the IDG-PA28 includes 2 versions, so there are 2 set-files.
But it must be at least one set-file inside the aircraft directory, otherwise FG don't see a aircraft.

Not having a lot of luck here. I took screen shot tried to upload and the message back was I can't upload a ODT file. However it looks similar to the one posted by earlier but without the directories.

There is a 'set' but not 'set.xml' although in the description it says it's xml. Everything that was extracted is in the folder. When I open the directory in addons it's all there but says no aircraft in folder.

Well I tried two other 'Word' variants and it doesn't like either.

Those are not screenshots! Those are documents. You need to upload a PICTURE file, so .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .rgb, .bmp you need. Screenshots are that. If using Windows, just hit the printscreen key, then hit CTRL + V on the postimage website and it will upload.

you have to get the URL for the picture now that it is uploaded to that site... then you post a message here with that url in img tags... it'll look like this when you write the message...

Code: Select all
[img]hxxp://some.site.invalid/foo/bar/blahblah/something.png[/img]

i made that up but it will have the http or https part followed by directories and finally the image name on their site with its extension... when you save the message, the img tags will cause the image to be pulled in and rendered in our browsers so we can see it properly...

FWIW: you said earlier there's no "-set.xml" file but there is a "-set" file with xml as the description... this is because your OS is lying to you and hiding the file extensions... there is a setting to turn off so you can see the extensions... i don't know what it is any more since i don't do winwhatever any more...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
