New CRJ900 AI model and liveries pushed to GIT.

Tags / Specs for AI Traffic files :

Code: Select all
<actype>CR9</actype>
<offset>0</offset>
<radius>12</radius>
<flighttype>gate</flighttype>
<performance-class>jet_transport</performance-class>
<heavy>false</heavy>

I also pushed updates to Adria, SAS and Iraqi traffic files (which were temporarily referencing a different model) to use this new one
Adria could use some TLC (CR9 listed in Aircraft but not used for any flight)

Enjoy
Ian

Ian, are you able to make lights for E90 and ERJ195?

It would fit to make a dash8 model, the current one requires a lot to be desired: D

Very unlikely in the coming months. My focus is on scenery right now.
Next planned AI model is the 757-200 but only for release 2019.2

someone was asking about adding contrails to AI craft... i mentioned that it could be possible to add and that it could be similar to the way the lights are being added... i don't know if they have found their way to this subforum, though...

is it possible? i've not dug in to look due to other things being higher on the "do list"...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Yes I have seen the topic viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35676&p=346758&hilit=ai+contrail#p346758

I share the concerns about the impact of Nasal on FPS. This is actually why I switched all of my AI models lights to ALS some time ago.

I am also not very clear on the benefits. I normally don't fly at high altitudes so I do not know how often you come across the path of AI models up there (not even sure they actually show up)

Cheers

i like to watch craft fly over... since it is hard to find highflying craft, i generally have the map open and then play chase the image trying to find the craft in the sky... having contrails would help but yes, FPS may be a problem there...

I don't know if the type of information you would need is available, but if it is, I think it would be a really cool feature (at least on higher end CPU's). If I were to tackle a project like this I think I would have an algorithm that looped through the AI model currently loaded (if they are not already loaded by distance from your location) and limit the effect to within X miles from viewer location. You would probably have to optimize the particle trail really well. It would be really cool to see contrails randomly in the sky and help add life to the scene.
Coming home from a trip last January we actually merge right through a contrail in the Embraer I was in. We paralleled it for awhile, slowly merging until we passed through it. I remember thinking how rare that might actually be, to be in just the right place at just the right moment, to see that.
