When rookies like me spend hours trying to stabilize for station keeping, you have time to watch Earth flowing below, for a while. I cannot believe we have that, "Mountain Waves"

I have a few shots like this, I'll post them on Spaceflight flight thread, but I could not resist to share this one!

Cheers,
Chris.

@lego, your shot is very nice, but I had to edit it in gimp to actually see the shadows, far too dark otherwise for my screen.

In fact, I think this is a recurrent issue, even for the SOTM. I bet you have a screen with a high gamma, and the fg shots appear very dark on screen with lower gamma. I don't know if there is a way within FG to output a sort of normalized brightness/constrast shot, I have the feeling that some otherwise super-beautiful shots on the SOTM gets disfavoured only for that reason!? If others have observed that as well, we could discuss it on the dev mailing list? Dunno.

Cheers,
Chris.

Lego just needs to advance the daylight time along a little, seems a lot of people like FlightGear's darkish red, predawn light look.

I like darkish daylight, overcast looks myself. Something to do with living in the rainiest state in the US I suppose.

After working like a dog for 14 days on the trot, time to relax. Not flows the as350 in a while ( and it shows ), but get it up, shove the Autopilot on and let it fly me over the lake district.

Pushing A320 to the limits. Into the Grand Canyon !
Canyon entrance :

Image

Piece of the cake, valley is nice wide :

Image

After some minutes new situation :

Image

Spectacular scenery :

Image

Image

Image

Flight envelope protection in the action, switching to direct law, I need full control, no silicon brain actions :

Image

Leaving canyon, fuel is dangerously low :

Image

Image

Image

Image

Final approach to KPGA

Image

Landed almost on fuel vapours :

Image

Conclusion :
FBW steering is absolutly precisely, but flight computers 4 times activated TOGA mode, this action was very dangerous in narrow valley.

Isn't that just what happens when you push the thrust levers to the "TO/GA" position?
