Anybody: How on earth do I turn off the landing lights on the Pilatus PC-9? XML? Where is it?

does the switch not work, yet? use CTRL-C to toggle the click hotspots...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Get up into the air with landing lights on and gear down, get landing gear in and landing lights will turn off.
The other way round: Descend, go to final, gear down, landing lights will turn on.
At least this applies to the FGUK version of the PC-9, I reckon it isn't different with the fgaddon standard version.

I don't see a switch. They stay on even at altitude. CTRL-C doesn't seem to do anything.

The ALS navlights don't appear to be on by default so I assume your using the non-ALS light cones?

You can shut them off permanently by commenting out lines 83 to 101

Code: Select all
  <!--model>
   <name>LightConeR</name>
   <path>Aircraft/PC-9M/Models/Lights/LightCone.xml</path>
   <offsets>
    <x-m>-0.35</x-m>
    <y-m> 1.20</y-m>
    <z-m> 0.14</z-m>
   </offsets>
  </model>

  <model>
   <name>LightConeL</name>
   <path>Aircraft/PC-9M/Models/Lights/LightCone.xml</path>
   <offsets>
    <x-m>-0.35</x-m>
    <y-m>-1.20</y-m>
    <z-m> 0.14</z-m>
  </offsets>
 </model-->

Cool. Thanks!! Now: second stupid question: I have FlightGear files all over the place (Users/Adddata.., and so on), where is this XML file located?

If you modify the aircraft just be aware that if you use the automatic update button I am not quite sure but I think it will overwrite your updates ;)

I restarted the plane several times and the lights stayed off. Thanks, again.
BTW: I'm trying to find an aircraft with full instrumentation (like two VORs and NAVs, etc.) PLUS a route manager. And I'd like about 160-knot NTE. Four passengers. Twin is good. Not a turbo. I love the Seneca II and the Cessna 337 and even the C182, but they don't have an autopilot or Route manager. Any ideas?
Secondly: can I somehow add a Route Manager to the Seneca II or the 337, or both? My life would be complete at that point. <G>

You miss one point. Some guys want also a toilet on the aircraft for long flights. ;)

You may not want to hear this, but I always carried a long funnel, a rubber tube, and 24 oz Coke bottle in my aircraft. So.....you're saying I can't have that?

Good thinking tfreriks, You will enjoy flying planes that lack something, if you find this long lost skill. :lol: Improvise!
