The sim crashes with the last git version of airplane, it is due to:

Code: Select all
FGPropertyManager::GetNode() No node found for /velocities/groundspeed-kt

In file /media/attila/back_up/flightgear/Q400/Systems/q400-fcs.xml: line 343

IndependentVar property, /velocities/groundspeed-kt in Table definition is not defined.

Aircraft system element has problems in file Path "/media/attila/back_up/flightgear/Q400/q400-jsb.xml"
Unknown exception in the main loop. Aborting...

Important!
Everybody that uses the git version from https://github.com/D-ECHO/QSeries (former github.com/D-ECHO/Q400-jsb), as the aircraft repository and folder was renamed to QSeries (200 added), please make sure to rename your aircraft folder to QSeries.
This does not affect SVN version and https://github.com/D-ECHO/Q400 for now.

Please check whether renaming (see above) fixes it.

I re-downloaded again the whole folder now with the correct name. Thanks

Awesome! A few things I noticed:

- The aircraft are difficult to taxi; the nosewheel feels extremely wobbly, reacts very slowly, and seems to have a tendency to easily lose traction at steep steering angles, even on a dry taxiway. I couldn't manage to make any sharp turns without the aid of differential braking, and even then I overshot a lot. Keeping the aircraft aligned on the runway during takeoff is also quite difficult because of this, and when I tried a crosswind landing, I couldn't manage at all.
- In the Q100, the speed gauge has a red-and-white bar, but it's at, what, 40 kt? I was under the impression that these are supposed to indicate Vne, not stall speed. The speed gauge also doesn't have any arcs, not sure if the real aircraft has any, but I would assume that it would have at least indicators for stall speed with and without flaps.
- Q100 liveries seem to be missing.
- Pressing "APP" on the Q100 autopilot does arm APP mode, but I couldn't see any visual feedback - no lights, no change on the PFD.
- The HSI seems a bit spartan; shouldn't there be at least CDI needles there? Navigating by VORs is kind of tricky like this.

Hi tdammers,
thanks for your feedback!
-I will look into the bogey settings (and maybe consult it0uchpods... ;)), will see if it can be improved
-I thought I fixed the vmo bar... will check again, there are no arcs on the real ones
-The Q100 doesn't have any liveries yet...
-I still have to make the annunciator panel and AP annunciations on the EADI (the "PFD" of the older QSeries models)
-EHSI ("HSI") is still to be improved :)
Regards

I used to fly a lot with the Q400-jsb and recently observed with much interest the changes in the github folder to Qseries. Good to have this development including the smaller dhc-8s.

Just a few questions before I restart flying these planes (I have looked into them today): Has there been much change to the Q400? Are the Q200 and Q300 ready to fly and test? Are FDM including fuel consumption expected to be realistic? I'd like to train and again use them for VA flying.

Big thank you to the DHC-8 development team!
