Metar not found

Postby Jon » Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:57 pm

Hi all,

For a few weeks now I haven't had Metar data whilst controlling at EGKK. I’ve gone through the forum and haven't found any recent topics on the issue, but I tried their solutions anyways. Initially, I was told by pilots that the Metar was down for everyone, and that was maybe a week or two ago. However, yesterday when departing from EDDN, ATC was able to give me the Metar (EDDN_TW was also using OR) so I'm wondering why I still don’t have it.

I tried using "https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/stations/" as well as "http://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/dataserver_current/httpparam?dataSource=metars&requestType=retrieve&format=csv&hoursBeforeNow=168&mostRecentForEachStation=true&fields=raw_text,observation_time&stationString=%s" but none have worked.

To be fair I have no clue whether I am plugging the links in the right place or not. The place that seems logical to put the link is under "Add stations" when RightClicking on the Metar.

Looking forward to your replies,

Jon

For some reason the weather server doesn't any more accept the "fields" parameter in this URL. You can try to leave out that parameter. The URL would look like this:
Code: Select all
http://www.aviationweather.gov/adds/dataserver_current/httpparam?dataSource=metars&requestType=retrieve&format=csv&hoursBeforeNow=168&mostRecentForEachStation=true&stationString=%s

I still am not sure where to insert that URL, there is nowhere to do so on the startup page

Well, if there is an error it's often best to download the latest version.

What do you mean with that statement. Please describe more detailed what can you do and what can't you do, though you think you should can do it.

I am unable to "control" pilots in the sense that clicking the "control" button inside a pilot's FlightStrip doesn’t trigger anything. Ex.:

In my rules, I have set arriving traffic to be put under the approach section if:
1. Their destination is EGKK
2. They are within 2nm and 100nm
3. They are controlled by me

Normally when aircraft are controlled by me, my callsign appears in the pilot's FlightStrip. Now that function does not respond at all.

I am very thankful for your patience and willingness to help, and sorry for my previous confusing post,

Jon

There is no relationship between the problem you describe above and the rules below

Have a look at all the actions you defined for each column. See 3.2 Configure a column (enter actions and exit actions).
Maybe you move a rule defined that a flightstrip which is controlled by you is moved to a column, and maybe you have defined an UncontrolAction as exit action of the original column or as an enter action for the target column.

Maybe you can save the layout and attach the saved layout. You can find the XML-file in the layout folder inside the OpenRadar folder.

In any case, my testing will have to wait until the weekend. Saturday, after my session, I will update this thread with new info and the layout file. I am currently too busy.
I really appreciate your help, a-v-o, you are most kind.
