-it's a looong lakebed - you don't actually need to hit the touchdown point.

Actually, the OVHD pattern for NOR32 puts the touch point quite at the beginning of the lake, just behind some hills, and I was crashing on the hills, just before the loooong bed lake :)

Got my joystick today, the basic from CH products. Tried it on KSC. MAN!!!!! I am suddenly stable, all the struggle with the mouse to stay put gone!!!!!!! YES!!!! Still have to figure out how to yaw without the mouse :)

Can your stick twist left to right? That can be a third axis, used for yaw input.

I find keyboard works better for RCS control, while mouse works better for aero control, using '5' in both cases to center.

For RCS control you can yaw using the keyboard, for aerodynamical flight you don't need yaw input, the DAP does that for you - the pedals aren't supposed to be touched till nose wheel steering is needed (at which point you can use the keypad again...)

Thanks for the tips!

I am using live data for the realistic weather, and I have spotted that sometimes,it is very difficult to land straight and even remain straight on the runway after touchdown. Could this be due to crosswinds? What are you doing guys in that case?

I do De-crab mostly in crosswinds - usually the Shuttle is too fast for winds to have a pronounced effect, so the maneuver is actualy pretty gently.

The alarm tones should now work as well...

@wlbragg: Can we also have the mode switch on C3 (linked to /fdm/jsbsim/systems/cws/cw-mode with

-1: ASCENT
0: NORM
1: ACK

And... looking at the CW lights - it seems there's 'OSM' rather than 'OMS' on several... you seem to have taken a fancy to the alternate spelling

I did an osm search in the files, seems I "really" liked that alternate spelling. Must be all the alternate facts floating around out in the cosmos.

Unbelievable, Keep and eye out for any adverse effects should I mess something up as I change them. I guess I need to do this one at a time and make sure it is a complete word and not just some portion of a word.

Searching and replacing for

"osm[space]
[space]osm[space]
>osm[space]

should remove a good few of them without removing any other non-associated ones

Don't ever do this with code. I'm entirely fine with internal variables being misnamed, nobody cares and the risk is just too great - just warning lights and tooltips are something that should be fixed.

Very nice work.
I tested the Alarm, very immersive :)

I looked through the code and it was fairly simple. I verified one by one that it didn't cause any issues. It was all contained to animation variables and mesh and not deeply embedded.
It's should be all cleaned up.
I agree with Thorsten the blanket approach is just too dangerous. I don't think I would ever do that unless I knew the entire code base and it was still fresh in my mind. In this case it would have been fine, but I had no way to really know that.
As far as changing it at all in internal variables, I somewhat agree, but I can't stand this kind of a mistake and if it is my fault I have a tendency to not be able to let it go, unless it it too extensive. This wasn't one of those cases I don't think, pretty simple. Then again it was a pretty simple task when I made the mistake as well.
It was also in tool tips which had to be cleaned up!
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Let me know if anyone discovers I missed any of the graphics or tool tips.

The CW mode switch is finished as well.

While I was at it I lined up the caution and warning panel light graphics a bit (forward panel, F7 I think) They should look a little better placed on the grid behind them. If there is one in the aft I didn't do it.

There's the 120 light bulb one in the aft section which does C/W by monitored parameter individually rather than by system group. Not sure how deeply I want to delve into that one...

Hm. reading through the Ascent Abort Handbook and a bit more through the CWS, it seems we're going to need more 3d work - the blue SM light and the body flap auto pushbutton (I've been wondering for a while how the crew learns that MPS dump is complete - the solution is that the bodyflap indicator light goes out - who would have guessed...)

And it seems during BFS ascent alpha, airspeed, altitude... tapes are not driven. So I'll take these out.
