Adding views

Postby Ivan-Pekar » Sat Oct 20, 2018 3:55 pm

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to add a passenger view, for example, to an aircraft that doesn't have it? If so, then how?

Thanks,
Ivan

If there isn't a passenger viewpoint on the plane's configuration you can move your viewpoint from pilot's view backwards into the fusalage by adjusting the z-offset-m value. Then adjust x-offset-m to move sideways into a window passenger seat, then adjust y-offset-m to raise or lower your height. Then turn your view by adjusting PanView Dir left or right to look out of the window. You may be disappointed to find some planes don't have a well modelled interior, maybe no seats and sometimes no fusalage sides, so you end up in the fresh air surrounded by bits and pieces of wings and landing gear and other aircraft parts. Very interesting for those who like flying the plane from unusual positions!

The B1900 has seats fitted. Some planes do, some planes don't!
This C47 built by the French PAF lads has nice passenger seats.
fast forward the video to 52 seconds about a quarter along the timeline.

Have written scripts on various buttons and axes on my AV8R-01 joystick to control views and view movements. Modifier script changes AV8R-01 spare throttle into a controller to slow or speed-up view movements.
If you don't have a joystick, as Legoboy says, the GUI menu you get at the top of your screen gives you the ability to use your mouse to adjust views in X Y and Z directions and to read the xyz coordinates if you need to set up a specific viewpoint.

It is also possible to substitute the Flightgear "keyboard.xml" file with a re-written keyboard.xml which will move your viewpoint to the left or right (X) up or down (Y) forward or backward (Z). The keyboard.xml file leaves many keyboard keys unused so plenty of spare keys to write new scripts to!
