TBH, i've never thought about it... i've always flown the craft as it came... other than looking around but i haven't ever tried to raise my POV... that may be one of the reasons why i turn off the cockpit of various craft at times... that leads to using more keyboard control for the switches, knobs and levers that need to be moved at certain times...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

wkitty42 says
x/X is taken by the simulator for increasing/decreasing zoom...
z/Z is taken by the simulator for increasing/decreasing visibility...

Not any more they won't if you use the modified keyboard.xml
the visibility code for example has been moved to key "o" etc.
Best way to see, is to fly the modified keyboard xml
All XYZ xyz keys have new codes associated now with moving view left/right up/down or forward/back.
For Example:
At start of this P51 video the pilot view was set further back so stick and pedal movements can be seen. 8)
Also if keyboard "c" does not give you the clear air view it should on certain craft, then the Z offset forward will !
Landing the F16 with it's nose high configuration is much easier too, if you move the pilot view to help you.

Hi wl, right now it's the Cessna 172. Ctrl+right mouse button allows adjusting the seat up and down. I too like to see a bit of the nose of the aircraft in my forward view.

Thanks!
