Hate to be picky but my livery for N73429 has the panel.png for OH-CTL as the registration "sticker" shows OH-CTL.

For 2018.3.1 rc and next.

I see this file in sourceforge FGData.

Ron, please be picky as much as you can, I really appreciate it! That one went completely unnoticed when I created the livery. I have already pushed a fix to a PR which will soon be merged into our master, i.e. in a couple of days the issue will be fixed in our repository.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for creating this aircraft for us!

To be honest it is a bit of love and hate for me. It was not starting good, but the FDM is realistic and after putting hours into training and switching to pedals I get the hang of it.
Still not good enough with stick and rudder to fly it as a platform for IFR. I have to keep on practising.

Small item:
After priming the engine and pressing starter without the battery on, you have to re-prime, when you redo the starting procedure.
But without electricity nothing should have happened in the engine and "prime status" aka fuel in cylinders should remain the same.

Saving of aircraft status might also have its glitches. I always have to clip on ground electricity, because battery has been saved as empty.

Hi Knüppelrührer, thank you so much for the bug reports. I added the bug with the priming to our repo, hopefully soon it will be fixed. Concerning your second report about the aircraft state glitch, I don't seem to be able to reproduce it. Could you try to narrow down to a set of concrete steps so that our team can attempt to reproduce the problem and then fix it?

Just a minimum I can contribute without programming skills.

Flightgear is not saving the aircraft status, when it is closed by just closing the window (running Windows 8.1)
When closed properly via File->quit it does how it should.

Thanks for improving this nice little aircraft even more!

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately what you report is not a bug with our aircraft but rather an issue with how FlightGear works. You have to quit it 'properly' in order to save the aircraft state. I believe the same applies to all other sim preferences and settings, though I am writing this without checking it. So unfortunately there is not much we can do from the aircraft development side.

Yes there is, I built this into my aircraft config system, there are ultimately 2 ways to do this.

1st way: force aircraftdata save when setting changed
2nd way: write and load settings via XML (useful for multiple -set files)

Let me know if you want more information.

I suppose the general convention is that closing the Window is meant as a kill command (the process manager denies the windowed process any further resources, excludes it from the CPU and frees its memory, i.e. the running program doesn't get to do anything) while 'quit' is a shutdown command issued to the software itself - which can then save its state and tell the process manager that it's finished.

If a process hangs, I generally expect to be able to kill it by closing the window, but not by issuing a 'quit' request.

Killing processes without need is a bad user habit - I'd get rid of it if I were you, software isn't meant to be used that way.

Why has the X button not been set as a quit command then?

Josh

PS: I still think it's nessesary to implement. If Sim crashes, then you loose your settings. This is why most programs save settings immediately, not when closed.

It doesn't 'belong' to FG. it belongs to the Window manager of the OS (or I don't understand the question).

In Win32 the close button sends events to the main eventloop and it is up to the application to process these events. This can, and often is, by displaying a "do you really want to quit" dialog and then returning the appropriate value. If you don't handle the WM_CLOSE event then the default Windows message loop destroys the window.

Personally I think that FG should follow the UI guidelines and conventions on the host OS; so I'd tend to think that the window close button should be handled the same as selecting Quit from the menu. I have considered doing this before, but it's always been said that it is useful to be able to exit FG without saving. I suspect this is from a developer's perspective as for most everyone else it's not how Windows usually works.

I agree. Then I suggest adding an option to the confirm dialog if opened from the OS to exit without autosaving.
