Plus add ATC or make ATC simple, if able.

Hi Khalid Halim,

I anticipate that various aircraft will be updated with this release, but I'm not aware of any planned enhancements to ATC. There's a thread on the -devel list describing the main developments that known to be going into 2018.3.

At this point in the cycle, I wouldn't expect any significant further enhancements. Most of us are focusing now on ensuring it's as polished as possible.

Stuart, you guys are doing a great job (as always!!) keep up the good work. It's ok for people to make suggestions, But Flightgear has to try and keep everyone "flying" by not "cluttering" up the program so it's able to be run (reasonably) by someone with only 4Gb of RAM as well as those of us with maybe 16Gb plus, Which i guess is a rather big juggling act on behalf of the Dev's and programmers to achieve this!!! I have managed to add a few more flightgear pilots by live streaming to a closed facebook group Bigjet TV (https://www.bigjet.tv/) Well done again and looking forward to the next release! Cheers Clive

@Johan, correct choice. Anyway what's the best place to put live ATC? I like to hear it, do you?

So, would you recommend a newcomer to pick up the game now, or to wait for the update, so that I don't have to deal with changes as soon as I'm getting somewhat used to the game?

Thanks!

The changes between updates aren't usually huge and consist more of specific features being implemented. Anything you learn now won't be wasted for next update, that's for sure.

Hi All,

An update on the plans for the release: We are bringing forward creating the release branches to 8th September. This is to allow us to generate Release Candidates that people can test and find bugs in ahead of the release on 6th October.

As part of this we will be branding fgaddon. So if you're developing aircraft for the 2018.3 release, fixes after 8th of September will need to be merged into the release branch as well.

Sorry, I don't understand. Did the way FGAddon works change?
Because it usually has worked so that if a plane is updated its available in launcher within 24 hours, also in the middle between releases..

Are you saying you will start to freeze fgaddon for each FG release?

Hi Stuart, by the way thank you for merging the c172p release.

Not totally unrelated to the last questions. If I have a bug fix for the c172p, how should I go about getting it to wherever it needs to go?

Hi All,

I may have jumped the gun here - there's an ongoing discussion on the -devel list about whether or not to start branching fgaddon so that aircraft are more closely linked to a specific FG release. For the moment, just keep on updating trunk.

Re: the c172p, if the team produce an updated branch with bugfixes, I'm happy to merge it in. I'd have a preference for doing this every week or so, rather than on a daily basis :)

Thank you Stuart, we will port bug fixes back to the release branch (cherry pick).
I'll let you know if and when it has an update and needs a merge.
