+1!
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

The preview for the fourth episode 'The Fairy Ring' is now online - we were fortunate enough to work with actors from the local theater for the 'fairy enchantment' scenes, which really makes things come alive.

We plan to publish this next spring, we just have to record the material now, but post-processing will wait till 'Storm Crag' is out.

Enjoy!

Currently working on our otherworld/astral projection visuals:

It's, frankly, amazing what one can do at home these days. That's a scale model of a stone circle, several bluescreens, up to five video streams with multiple filters merged (the software frequently hangs under the stress...) - but in the end we seem to be getting there.

If you're searching for more music: For my own work I needed some music with a very relaxed license and came across this musician who publishes everything under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License:
http://www.tannerhelland.com/music-directory/

Most of what he offers reminded me of your project.

Erik

BTW: Here's what my software makes of his song Faith:

Everything in my version is done using math: Sinues and noise, and filters and effects.

Getting more professional - we now make use of the ability to record sounds we need in professional quality

Found a new archive containing CC-BY-3.0 music of all kinds. No MIDI this time (Which I needed) but some useful stuff is available there:

That one I've known.

Also Silverman Sound Studios has a nice collection (which we have now used) - and Free Music Archive is the biggest, though not very well sorted.

Ok, I just wanted to let you know it exists. Seems you have plenty of resources now.

HakalaFilm is proud to present 'Storm Crag' - the 3rd episode of our series.

Now set in Summer, with 45:30 yet a bit longer than the previous part, set in breathtaking landscapes and done with quite some more experience in camera movements and special effects - our best movie so far!

Enjoy!

Nicely done!

Thanks, we were wondering after another discussion whether it'd be possible to get that impression - apparently it is. :D

For everyone who finds piloting too demanding after New Year celebrations and just wants to sit down and relax, we have a New Year surprise - a 15 Minute 'Behind the Scenes' feature where we explain and demonstrate what kind of stuff we do before a movie gets online - all told with a sense of humor.

Among other things to see, there's outtakes and bloopers, a demonstration that a bluescreen can in fact be a red wall, the obligatory video clip with a cat, a reason why the original sound recordings on site just won't do, a surprising use of a trampoline - and a few preview scenes of episode 4 (The Fairy Ring).

Enjoy!

Since I'm just playing with landscape compositing for the next episode - here's one of the more promising ones:
