Mac Clickable Hotspots

Postby RobAndrew » Sun Aug 19, 2018 12:49 pm

Dear Everyone and Anyone!

I'm certain this has been brought up before, but I never actually found an answer for it. I do apologise if this has been said already and I just haven't found said answer, but i'll carry on anyway...

I've found out recently that clickable hotspots are not highlighted on any Aircraft that I've looked through, when I press Ctrl-C. Be it Cessna, Boeing, Airbus etc. This may be a mac thing (It usually is, god damn macs  ) I did try and change this to Ctrl-F through the Keyboard Xml. (I read somewhere that this was a good hack to use) but that didn't seem to help either.

Again, this may be a known issue to everyone else but me, which is currently being worked on. Just thought i'd let you know :D

P.S To be precise, the Aircraft I have tested are the Boeing 757 Rolls Royce Edition, the highly detailed Cessna 172P 1981 edition, as well as the Rockwell B1 Lancer and the IDG Airbus A330

Thanks again, Happy flying!

Maybe it is Cmd+C instead of Ctrl+C?

It (Ctrl-C not Cmd-C) used to work, many versions ago.

Okay...has the button changed or something? Or does it just not work full stop on Macs anymore?

Um actually I think it hasn't worked for me in a while - I can probably go back & find where it last worked

I'm currently using 2017.1.3 (I think, last 2017 edition) so it'll be before that

Hi Rob,
I have noticed on Mac, some things do not work quite right. No clue why.

I have a spare Mac mini, I will run some tests and see if I can figure out a solution.

Best Regards,
Josh

OK it works on FG 3.6 but not on 2016.4.4 - I'll check the in between versions to see where it stopped working

for the record hitting ctrl-c in a non working version applies right rudder... so something to look into

2016.3.1 is the release that broke it

I need to have a look at the keymaps

I've had a look in the keymaps & I can't see anything odd (or any changes around that time in the git history for that matter, but I might have missed something). I've posted to the developers mailing list asking for clues as to where to look...

Brilliant! Thank you very much! If its not in the key maps I'm not sure where it could be! I just hope they can find it. I'm looking at doing some night flights soon and some cockpit switches could really do with some light around them!

I had a reply from James - the bug will be hard to fix as fixing it on Mac will break Windows & Linux (sigh). It'll (hopefully) get looked at in the next dev/release cycle - I'll keep an eye on things.

Some aircraft have pretty good internal lighting to illuminate switches too - I'm not familiar with any that you listed though

Alright, well again thank you so much for the support! I'm glad that its getting looked in to! I mean hey, maybe there are buttons that are hiding that I've never seen because of this? :P One can only hope that the next couple of releases makes some form of change though

Again, thank you for everything, happy flying!
