for terminals and really big and complex buildings i keep it to 1024x512 or 512x1024 with night texture, but better 512x512, the rest can be smaller resolution depending the detail i want to highlight. For reflexing textures you may need the same original texture duplicated, see dubai addon by pommeschranke.

EDDK Railway Station and Cylinder also uploaded now. Next steps will be removing obsolete old T2 buildings when Terrasync is syncing again and showing the new buildings.

I wanted to have a quick look at what terragear provides, so I took my trusted Cap 10B and scared the hell out of the virtual traffic controllers.
But what a nice site!
Very well done Thomas!
I will keep EDDK in my favourites.

The objects were originally created by laserman/pommeschranke. I just uploaded it to the database.

Hello mifi,

thanks for your PM.
AFAIK Terrasync is currently not serving the new buildings because it is moving to the AWS cloud right now.
Do you see 2 doughnut-shape or star-shape terminals ?

In case you saw the old EDDK, I hope you'll like the new one too ;-)

Just to keep you informed: My next step will be adding the animated jetways. But before doing so I'm working on a solution for adding the jetways to the model database without requiring a ICAO.jetways.xml file.

Hey, ThomasS ,

are you still active at EDDK?
today I submitted a correction of T1 heading from 270 to 90 deg.

Well, yes and no. When reaching the point of positioning jetways I branched my activity to a more convenient way for maintaining these (no single ICAO.jetways.xml file). But this is a slow process and I might got stuck. However I still feel concerned about improving EDDK.

I just came along EDDK and think I only now get your message. By "submitting" you mean upload to the scenery database, correct?. Terminal1 models orientation changed so the terminal now has the wrong orientation in the scenery.

The object in the database also needs an update. I'm going to update it.

Regards
Thomas

I'm confused. The STG file I get synced by TS contains a heading of 270, but https://scenery.flightgear.org/app.php? ... id=3474621 says 90. Maybe it was changed recently. I'll wait a few days. Anyway, I requested the deletion of three instances of "small-glass-office-building" (#3286018, #3286019, #3286020) which conflict with Terminal1.

i did not upload. i just changed parameters of the object. I wrote "submit" because the changes get checked and approved by a FG scenery maintainer.

Terminal1 models orientation changed so the terminal now has the wrong orientation in the scenery.

how? why? did you upload a new model ?

I'm confused. The STG file I get synced by TS contains a heading of 270, but https://scenery.flightgear.org/app.php? ... id=3474621 says 90.

that is confusing but "normal" : headings in STG file are represented different from headings on scenery.flightgear.org

http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Add_sh ... #STG_files

....Rotation is counter-clockwise from north (not clockwise as in the rest of FG).....

It can also be that my changes are in the Database but not yet on the terraysnc servers.

BTW:
spawning at EDDK crashes my FG:
Code: Select all
Texture file not found: 'EGLL-tower1.png'

please check the xml file of your models and maybe remove the glass effect.
Code: Select all
EDDK-Terminal1.xml:        <texture>EGLL-tower1.png</texture>

I didn't do anything to Terminal1. Lets wait until we can be sure that the STG files are in sync with the database.

I just saw that the TS update is out:

Code: Select all
OBJECT_STATIC EDDK-Terminal1.xml 7.12233252 50.87822155 68.18 90

Terminal1 now has the correct orientation. My next steps for Terminal1 will be:

*removing the glass effect from the models XML file for avoiding error message "Texture file not found: 'EGLL-tower1.png'"
*move the static jetways of Terminal1 to the corresponding gates (avoiding conflicts with a 777 using the park position at that gate)
*maybe removing some inappropriate buildings like the EGLL tower inside T1

The situation with Terminal2 still is a mess. The old building isn't at the correct location but fits to the apron terrain. The eastern gates are blocked by Terminal1 now. The new T2 building was moved to the grass for getting it out of the way to the old T2. AFAIS the root cause for this mess is the apron D terrain, which is too small. I have no solution for this and will for now leave T2 (both old and new) untouched.
