FPS Issue

Postby rrkrishnan » Thu May 24, 2018 4:51 pm

I am having a Lenovo 580 laptop with 2GB integrated graphics and 1 GB Nvidia GeForce 610M. I am facing low fps around 5. I have selected Nvidia Graphics Driver for this program in the Nvidia Control Panel.

when you are in the sim, use the F10 menu, select Help->About... take a screen shot and post it on a image server somewhere (like imgur or similar) and provide us a link, please...
also, please tell us what OS and bits you are running (eg: win7 64bit)...
and lastly, what version and bits of flightgear (eg: 2018.1.1 64bit)...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

If you have the urban and overlay shaders please turn them off as my GPU, the 920MX can't really handle them that we'll - the 610 is unfortunately quite low powered. Which is your integrated card - Intel or AMD?

If you have a modern intel integrated card it may actually work better than the Nividia - the 4000 or later are decent ;)

ok, so you are using the Nvidia GeForce OpenGL stuff... that's good...

F10->View->Rendering_Options... top right portion of the dialog...
do you have "Custom settings (fine tuning)" selected?
if yes, please click on the "Shader Options" button and give us another screen shot of those settings...
if no, what do you have the "Performance/Quality" slider set to? the number in parens beside "Quality"...

ok so Quality 1...

i see you're in the 757-200... you should try the c172p or the UFO and see if that makes a difference... i suspect it will... some aircraft are really ""heavy"" in their graphics and the processing tasks needed to simulate them... using a ""lighter weight"" craft should improve your FPS if the craft is the cause of this problem...

NOTE: some scenery is also pretty ""heavy""... the area around Paris can really slow things down with all the 3D buildings being drawn there...

so, try the c172p or the UFO at a non-detailed airport like KMIA... there's nothing there other than a few trees... let's see what your FPS is there...

Sir,

Please refer to the experience with c172p...no considerable change...

If you are on a laptop you could have a power management setting that limits the CPU and GPU when you are on battery power. If you plug in the laptop does it make a difference?

Also, disable the random buildings and trees - does that make a difference?

I have presented all the results in plugged in mode. Please see the result after disabling random scenery objects.

Hm, seems you're running the framerate-gobbling Rembrandt renderer (which brought even my gaming laptop into the 15 fps range) - why don't you switch it off?

Sir,
I am a beginner to this game. So I just began with the default settings. So please tell me how to switch off framerate-gobbling Rembrandt renderer?

In the commandline just be --disable-rembrandt - but you're probably not starting from the commandline, so just search for the dropdown list where Rembrandt is selected in the launcher and change it.

(And it's most definitely not a default setting...)

Sir,

I have disabled the rembrandt and the in-cabin fps raised to 19. Please see the screenshot.

Is there any other modifications to do? Please advice...
