Tutorials - Preflight

Postby hkwmon » Sun May 20, 2018 5:08 pm

I started the Tutorials- Preflight
Could easily click on all steps in the red ring with a small hand signals inside.
The red ring with the note "Remove the wheel chocks" I can not click away.
Below is help: "You must remove the wheel chocks before you flight"
I tried everything but it does not work for remove the chocks.
The program is standing and waiting for " Remove the wheel clocks" away.

which aircraft?

if this is the c172p, then use the F10 menu in the sim... on the right hand end it should have the name of the craft... click that and the menu should show numerous options for the craft... in the section on securing the craft, is a check box for the chocks... uncheck it and the chocks will be removed...

OR

use the v/V keys to change your view to outside the craft... right click and hold with drag to move around so you can see the wheels... you should see the chocks, too... click on the chocks and they will be removed... if you used the v key to change views, now use the V key to change back through them...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Hi wkitty42,
Thanks for the quick response and for your help.
The flightgear 2018 has only the Cessna C172 P Shyhawk 1981 model preinstalled.
When starting the program this aircraft appears. Also the Tutorials is based on the same plane.

In menu bar (F10) I clicked the tab Cessna 172 -> Aircraft Options and there is
"Allow securing aircraft" is enabled . Is this correct ????
Below there is the check box for the chocks "Enable wheel chocks"
It was already disabled and at the Tutorial - Preflight the chocks canne not been removed. I believe that is un error in the Software??

yes...

in the above F10 menu, make sure there is a check the box beside "Allow securing aircraft"... then you should be able to check and uncheck the chocks... you might have to restart the tutorial...

i'm not sure what it will take but the c172p team will have to fix the tutorial for this... it may already be fixed but just not yet available...

Hi @hkwmon, welcome to the FlightGear forums.

Hum, I just went through the entire pre-flight tutorial using version 2018.1.1 and the development branch of the c172p and it all worked fine.

A new version was just release with the same aircraft I successfully used the tutorial on. So if there was an issue with the tutorials, it appears to be fixed in the newest release. Not to mention the aircraft has substantial upgrades in this new release.

Great, I could remove the wheel chocks and finished the tutorial
Thank you for your help
And now I have a new problem:
At Tutorials Taxing by the message :
"Apply a little throttle to get going, but then reduce it once you're moving"
even though I've increased the rpm over 2000 Up, but the plane is not moving
The Tutorials is standing and waiting. It is possible that is also the problem with the
wheel chocks ??? enable and disable brought nothing.

did you release the hand brake? it is right under the yoke... i think it is the SHIFT-B key... b is brakes and then you also have left and right brakes on ',' and '.' keys... check the help in the F10 menu... it has common aircraft keys as well as normal sim keys...

At Tutorials Taxing by the message :
"The parking brake is still on." Release it by pressing shift "B"
after I have release :
"Apply the brakes by pressing b"
and then
"Keep the brakes on until I tell you to start taxing"
and then
"Release the brakes and taxi forwards"
and then
"Apply a little throttle to get going, but then reduce it once you're moving"
but the plane is not moving

In "common aircraft key" I saw
left / right brake (comma, period)
I tried it but without effect. The Tutorials is standing and waiting

ok... SHIFT-B is a toggle for the parking brake... the handle is under the yoke... if it is pulled out, the parking brake is set (ON)... if it is pushed in, the parking brake is not set (OFF)... this is like the old parking brakes on cars...

'b' by itself, is the brakes you push with your foot... comma is the left wheel brake... period is the right wheel brake... the 'b' pushes and releases the comma and the period brakes together... what the tutorial said, as you wrote above is this...

1. hit SHIFT-B to release the parking brake. The "L" handle under the yoke will slide in toward the engine.
2. hold the 'b' key to push the foot brakes.
3. keep holding the 'b' key until i tell you to start taxing.
4. release the 'b' key to release the foot brakes.
5. apply some throttle (PgUp} to rev the engine and get some push then reduce the throttle (PgDn) so you don't get going too fast...
