As the first version of EDDB/SXF is published there will still be some updates in future:

- south apron hangars
- taxiways
- BER Area (as soon as the OSM Update is available)

I would love to model the taxiways with sketchup for more detail. What do you think? Therefore I would need somebody who is able to flatten the terrain. Is there someone out there who is able to do that?

Did you notice: At EDDB/SXF there are new stairways which fit to A320 and B737:

Last question for today: How to install this scenery? Where to put "Models" and where do I drop "Terrasync"?

I don't want to edit into my Terrasync folder since I have a python script running that would overwrite everything.

@Sven:

I do not know how flightgear is organized in Kubuntu. I use Mac and there are two data-folders:
macintosh HD/user/.../library/application support/FlightGear/TerraSync/Terrain/e010n50/e013n52/ ---> here I put the .stg-file
macintosh HD/applications/FlightGear/Contents/Resources/data/Models ---> here I put the model-files

I use the TerraSync folder as I do not use TerraSync (does't work for me) and this is the same folder where all the (also manual) downloaded scenery data is stored (also it was the first way to work in my case).

I also tried to put the .stg-File in:
macintosh HD/applications/FlightGear/Contents/Resources/data/Scenery/ ---> there should be different folders (e.g. buildings, terrain, objects). But it didn't work. You may have to create these folders: e010n50/ -> e013n52/ and put the .stg-file there. I have not tried yet. If you find a solution before I do, please share here :-)

Hi Ger272,
great progress on the objects, really good work!!
About your directory structure: It would probably be better to ship a package that can be easily installed by adding it to the Scenery ADD-ONS, therefor
1. objects should be in the Objects folder and in there proper subfolder
2. the models, as they are not generic (SHARED) but specific to this airport (STATIC), should rely in their objects folder and should be referred as OBJECT_STATIC in the .stg file, so the structure should be:
Code: Select all
EDDB
-> Objects
    -> e010n50
          -> e013n52
                   -> 890
                   -> other model folders
                   -> EDDB_HB.ac
                   -> other EDDB_*.ac files
                   -> 3171226.stg

also, I've tested your objects with my generated OSM terrain:
Image

I think it looks quite good compared to the old terrain ;)

If you want, I can create a git repo with the proper directory structure and my terrain

Dear D-ECHO,
thank you very much!!! Your terrain looks great! :)
The as far as I can see the south apron hangars need to be turned a little bit, but it shouldn't be a big deal...

If you found an easy way to change the directory structure you are very welcome to change that - otherwise I would do it by the end of this week.
Feel free to create the repo (I didn't do it yet, as I do not know how to use github - except of downloading)

Cheers,
Max

you did put it in your private scenery ""override"" directory and add that directory to the launcher's scenery paths, right?

you also didn't say where you downloaded it from so we can't tell if you have the one from D-ECHO's repo with the corrected directory structure or if you have the original one...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

"I would love to model the taxiways with sketchup for more detail. What do you think?" Looks logic to me, but all we've are tons of jetways as shared objects on the database some workable but other static. On the other hand, there's a project to use (based on the model you have at Schonefeld) as a hard-coded Nasal jetways instead: look at: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8728&start=375#p313345
