"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Ok no rush, Just wondered!!!! Anyway I have just updated to 2018.1.1 and I am trialling it now.....just took off from EGKK to go to LSGG and all seems well, Better frame rate 15 to 25 FPS, A LOT LOWER memory and CPU consumption, most of the "bells & whistles" turned on real weather turned on CPU at 27% and RAM at 36% GPU between 90 and 95% utilisation....You can still have a look when you get chance just in case there is a AI issue :D :D :D

i'm like 7.25 hours into the flight... speed 490kts, left EGKK on heading 105 using the "heading bug" setting in the AP... the HUD shows i'm on 107 now... altitude 35000 feet... have just passed Lahore, Pakistan OPLH and OPLA... next up about 500nm in the distance is Nepal... not sure what will happen as we approach the shoreline of China and head toward the Philippines but will be watchful over the next hours... haven't seen any problems so far...

i had made some adjustments to my FG settings the other week... mainly reducing the visibility options to try to keep my memory consumption down... so far, FG is using only about 4Gig of RAM and i've been over a lot of scenery and had a lot of cloud changes due to live METAR... all ALS sliders are set at maximum... FPS running from 17 to 20...

now at 20.5 hours into the flight... the Marshall Islands are behind me by about 750nm or so... Kiribati in front some 300nm or so... but i'm not so sure about Kiribati because the Phi interface map tells me that Kiribati is behind me... the CTRL-M map in the sim says otherwise, though...

i've not seen any problems in the sim and have not noted anything of importance in the monstrous debug log that's being captured... said log being about 158Meg at this point but it is only that small because i shut off some debug messages otherwise it would be maybe twice as large or more...

the distance marker in the in-sim picture is anchored on PCIS...

Lets just call it then I'll mark this as solved as I've installed 2018.1.1 and I've just been flying now continuous for 22 hours (fuel freeze enabled) and i'm using 25.8% CPU, 31.1% Memory (out of 16Gb) and between 14 - 20 FPS with the 777-200LR (As we all know is a very hungry beast) and all seems stable. So I can only put it down to an issue (on my machine) with 2017.3.1. I have completely removed 2017.3.1 by uninstalling via a registry uninstaller and completely shredding the flightgear.org folder in the %appdata% file, so there were no potential "nasties" left lerking anywhere.BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR LOOKING FOR ME You are a star!! :D :D :D

2018.1.1 is released and should be available via the normal download links... i'm assuming that curt has had time to manually update them as needed...

Now, it is OK. But I have another problem - 32 bit version is compiled without QT, launcher is not available :( I made some tests on my laptop with 64 bit Win7 and this 2018.1.1 is bit faster than previous 2017.3.1 and has lower memory consumption. Waiting for Linux 2018.1.1.

i haven't seen anything about problems like that in the "Please test the new version" topic :(

i've queried the dev mailing list...

I tested 2018.1.1 on 64 bit Win7, only yesterday I made that test on my desktop PC with 32 bit Win7. For daily flying I'm using 64 bit Lubuntu 17.10.

ph! ok, so you did use a 32bit OS... i thought you were testing 32bit FG on 64bit OS... either way, it is OK... there was a configuration problem on the 32bit side of the fence... it will be corrected...

i don't know when the repaired 32bit FG will be ready or released... it may be dropped right in as the existing version or it may be held until another (minor) version is released... most all testing by devs is now done on 64bit... not sure how much action 32bit get or even how many downloads it gets compared to 64bit...
