Ubuntu Studio 17.10 - flightgear 2018 error

Postby CoolGames » Mon Mar 19, 2018 1:22 am

I tried to compile the source code and got an error.
I am not a programmer but seems like an unmet dependency !

I used download_and_compile.sh and it failed simgear and fgdata but I was able to get the files by executing outside the command file.
simgear succeeded when I used hardwire instead of wifi.
fgdata worked if I used git instead of https that failed -110 error.
I used commandline in the install/flightgear directory as
Code: Select all
git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/flightgear/fgdata
.
I then ran the download... again and it seemed to do incremental steps.

The flightgear compiled failed

[ 38%] Building CXX object src/GUI/CMakeFiles/fglauncher.dir/LauncherMainWindow.cxx.o

Modified spelling to point to
Code: Select all

Judging by the mailing list traffic over the last days, you''re probably missing one or two little Qt dependencies... I'd suggest to do nothing for a while and then try again, James wanted to re-structure some things, so this might resolve itself.

I see the changes I made locally in RecentLocationsModel.hxx source last night.
Next I would need to learn the way to recompile incrementally with a Git pull instead of full download.

It has compiled and is running but still tracking down Dragon lack of texture and animation that somehow disappeared when testing without installing anything.
All I did was delete logs and cache.
I will wait for repository release to install on target system.

yeah, the lower case 'v' was the problem here... it has been fixed in the repo...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
