2017.4.0 launcher problem

Postby yanes » Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:43 am

I compiled the git 2017.4.0 version as 'next' this afternoon and it works from the command-line .
but when I use the launcher and after setting my sim parameters ,clicking fly prints the help text in the terminal and exit (as if there was an error in the arguments )
this is the output

   option:aircraft = c172p
   option:fg-scenery = /home/yanes/.fgfs/Scenery
   option:fg-aircraft = /home/yanes/.fgfs/Yanes-ac
   option:airport = DTTA
   option:disable-auto-coordination =

Usage: fgfs [ option ... ]

General Options:
--help, -h                   Show the most relevant command line options
--verbose, -v                Show all command line options when combined
                                with --help or -h
--fg-root=path               Specify the root data path
   --fg-scenery=path            Specify the scenery path(s);
                                Defaults to $FG_ROOT/Scenery
--fg-aircraft=path           Specify additional aircraft directory path(s)
(alternatively, you can use --aircraft-dir to
target a specific aircraft in a given
                                directory)
--download-dir=path          Base directory to use for aircraft and scenery
downloads (the TerraSync scenery directory may
                                be specifically set with --terrasync-dir)
--language=code              Select the language for this session

Aircraft:
--aircraft=name              Select an aircraft profile as defined by a top
                                level <name>-set.xml
--show-aircraft              Print a list of the currently available
                                aircraft types

   --min-status={alpha,beta,early-production,production}
Allows you to define a minimum status level
(=development status) for all listed aircraft

Initial Position and Orientation:
--airport=ID                 Specify starting position relative to an
                                airport
--runway=rwy_no              Specify starting runway (must also specify an
                                airport)
--carrier=[name|ID]          Specify starting position on an AI carrier

For a complete list of options use --help --verbose

it looks like the "option:disable-auto-coordination = " is sent without a value so fgfs shows the help output and exits (No matter the auto-coordination checkbox is checked or not ).
please test and if it's confirmed someone should notify the devs

Q1. do you have MP selected without a MP server selected?
Q2. are you setting any other --prop options on the command line?
Q3. are you setting any other --prop options in the launcher's additional settings box?

A1. if you have MP and no MP server, yes, it will die... turn off MP or select a server...
A2. it sounds like you have a typo in one of the --prop options OR it no longer exists...
eg: ## obsolete ##--enable-enhanced-lighting
A3. see A2...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

@wittky42 your first shot hit the target ! :)
the "Connect to mp" check-box was checked in fact and no server selected .
But the launcher should not be left to act this way and make the FG disappears without a notification about what's going on for a user who don't launch from a terminal ,
it's like a lack of exception handling ( and yes it is in some way ), the multi-player server value should be evaluated before going more far and setting next options and launching the osg window .
Please ,correct me if I'm wrong .

it is a bug that is fixed in the new upcoming release due out any day now...
