Let me dissweeten the Hawaii deal ;) problem is, that there are high-quality shapefiles being used in the current terrasync scenery, which if I understand correctly came from Statto who hasn't got them anymore, so I won't be able to generate a newer scenery with better airports. Has anyone else those shapefiles?

I'm not sure why we'd need better airports in Hawaii - they pretty much all seem to be well-developed in terms of taxiways, parking spaces and lines and the whole shbang (I guess Hawaii is interesting for others as well...) and many even have terminal buildings in FG.

So what better airports do you think we need here?

Well, the airport of Honolulu e.g. is still the old 800 format and therefor IMO not really good-looking:

also, the apron has no taxilines at all and thus looks very blank:

Fair enough... I think I've checked out Kahului and Hilo today and they looked quite compelling - maybe they're more modern already.

D-ECHO, Thorsten, I can produce a new layout for that, depending how good the Gateway layout is, just let me know if it's needed.

Hi legoboy, thanks but that ain't the problem here. The layout in the gateway is nearly perfect, but to generate it with TG, one would need the HQ shapefiles...

But the current WS II landclasses seem okay - so this wasn't a special file set aside, this must have been on the map server - so whoever has a map server backup must have the current WS II state, no?

There was another Hawaii build (with more watercourse data, but artifacts in the elevation mesh) distributed via TS only on WS I, but that was changed by the current.

i think better to not develop and propose airports with highly old, incomplete or wrong layouts, these need to wait until next terrain generation. pity, because Hawaii is top place to do events and nice to have for default airport and help to improve scenery  .

As those who follow the mailing list may already know, we've decided to skip the 2017.4 release and focus on the release date in Feb instead (it's been just two months since the last release, there's been FSWeekend preparations for some of us, and there's a general feeling of 'not ready').

This would give someone the chance to organize the poll for the next default airport - if nobody shows any interest, the developers will simply pick one.

Then close this thread and no 2017.4 poll and start 2018.1 proposals thread instead?

Probably better/simpler if I rename the thread title to "[2018.1]", no? Then someone could start the poll straight away. Could you create the poll Catalanoic?

simplier, yes. please bugman, do that. So we have enough proposals and lasted it long, we can proceed to polling i think, but for 2018.1 instead like Thorsten and mail list suggested.
