Livery (And the use of)

Postby Clive2670 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 6:24 pm

Hi all, Hopefully someone may be able to help me, I would like to (slightly) change a BAW 777-200LR livery for my own personal use, I.E change the registration number, to my own put some additional livery (Photo's) on the tailplane. I have done this, by copying and pasting the PNG file and the xml file from the Models folder of the said plane and then doing the ajustments in Paint to the PNG file then saving it , Then I change the name of the files (So it doesn't clash and fail) with the original, Copy and paste the new files back into the Models file, these then show up, But when I run Flightgear and the correct 777-200LR My new livery doesn't show up in the "Change livery" drop down menu on the menu bar. So afew questions relating to this are as follows: 1: Am I doing the above correctly ( Using the correct files to change) 2: Do I need any special rights to change the original files (Even though this plane will be rarely used for my personal use, as it's plane "dedicated" to someone else) 3: What do I do to make this work, as I thought it would be straight forward, by doing the changes to livery and changing the file names to avoid clashes of files, I have even changed the original (Unused by me) plane to see if it was an issue with the change file name and copy and paste method. Any help would be gratefully recieved thanks in advance Clive :D

Hi Clive
Make sure that you change the XML file to have the correct path, and a different name (that you can Identify it very better)

Kind Regards,
Josh

PS: you should only have to change the last part, so for example, change the text BAW.png to BAW2.png or whichever is the correct name.

Thanks Josh will try your suggestion and come back with whether it works! Update...still no luck, Aircraft livery not showing up, Tried copying and pasting the original folder ( Your updated version that works to my desktop) When I point flightgear to this folder in the Add ons, it comes back "No aircraft found in this folder do you wish to add?" So what now?
Thanks Clive aka: G-BLS01

Hi Clive
Can you send here your XML (which should be in same folder as the png?)

We'll get this sorted.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Have you already had the 777 installed from the FGFS application directly? If so, uninstall it and then try because that's what I had to do.

That has no effect on whether one livery would work vs another.

Well, that's impossible due to the way livery select works. You probably had either a typo in your XML, or another problem similarly.

Once the livery select code loads, it parses all the XMLs in the folder.

Furthermore, I'm not arguing with you.

Kind Regards,
Josh
