ATC - Hold Short MSG (No click response) and Tower

Postby TryingToHaveFun2 » Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:00 am

{The following is not a multiplayer condition, which I've yet to try.)

Hi all,
As I am new to FlightGear (2017.2.1), I am discovering issues that I don't know are problems or just undeveloped items.

As I taxi to the runway using the displayed nav-way (I use the #2 option on the ATC response to display taxi navigation), everything seems to be fine until I reach the destination runway.
I've received ATC messages for startup, pushback, and taxi approval.

A) I do not receive the "Hold short" message until I actually enter the runway. When the message appears, clicking on it to respond does nothing, like it is not recognizing the click
or it is stuck. AI planes line up behind me like we're all waiting for something.

B) I am also unclear as to ANY tower responses/messages....radios are usually tuned to the ground (active Com1), tower (standby Com1), and ATIS (active Com2).
I've tried making the tower the active mic, but it is silent to any requests = {'} ATC command.

Any suggestions? Am I dong something wrong?

Typical airports are KSFO and KBWI using the Cessna.

System: Windows 10

Thanks for any advice/help/clarifications.

TBH the AI ATC is fairly broken and unuseable. It only handles taxing to the runway as far as I know. There is an addon called Spoken ATC: find out more at http://wiki.flightgear.org/Spoken_ATC.

yes, the hold short is triggered late because of the simplicity of the code and it hasn't been worked on in a while to adjust and fix... the thing is that when you see the hold short, there's nothing else to do but to go flying... you're already out there so throttle up and go! :)

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Thanks for your response!
I'll take a look at Spoken ATC too.

Thanks again for the clarification.
