How did you... do the last one? The Shuttle should actually not reach that high...

@Thorsten:
I added a zero in SpaceShuttle-Orbit-set.xml, so I started at 5 Mfeet... :)
Earth looks just spectacular from that altitude!

BTW, does the --altitude=n override the setting in the -set.xml? Didn't test...

Yes it does. But if you fiddle with the altitudes, you're bound to be on very exotic orbits - a circular orbit needs speed tuned finely to altitude.

Earth looks just spectacular from that altitude!

You probably want the procedural cloud detail generation off at that altitude - its tiling is rather apparent when you see so much of the layer at once...

I couldn't resist to bring the Shuttle to Paro.
I know Thorsten, you will tell me :" I warned you"

Catastrophic results, but great fun in trying to touch smooth on the first runway marks.

I tried first 15, it's impossible, too much hills just before the runway

Then 33 with a bit of Headwind seems more feasible, but the touchdown at beggining of Runway is mandatory, Highly risky with a shorten flare , and always a small bump before the runway.

Image

Image

Verdict so far after a dozens of tries, not good ahah, I touch 3 meters to early on the little bump before runway

Image

Completely irrealist, but quite nice challenge for precision landing with Shuttle.

Next stop, Hawai and its fantastic scenics ;)

"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

This flight was hardest in my FG carier. Aircraft from take off to 15000 feets balanced on stall speed at full throttle and permanent mixture tuning.

probably not a glitch if the eye of the hurricane was there at that time... it is almost dead calm inside the eye compared to the winds outside the eye wall...

Ah, great! Could you explain what you did? I guess you used the thrust reversers; I've not figured them out on concorde, they never seem to activate quickly enough on landing.
