Suggestion for Route Creation from KBOS

Postby danten66 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 6:31 am

Question for the hive...

I'm trying to work out route files for KBOS (Departure, approach and ILS Landings for now)

The Departure procedures for Runways 22L / R, Logan One - Climb to Heading 140 thence...

Intercept with a known start of KBOS-22L seems to be the way to go but I don't have an 'end point'

I suppose I could choose a random 'fix' in the area as each plane / pilot is going to climb a bit different and it's only a guideline anyway right?

Any other thoughts?

Hi Jomo,

Thanks for the links to the charts. I have them already from another source.

I guess I was looking for something on the programming side to make the Logan One 22L and R departures work.

I ended up using 'Intercept' to a known point to see if that would work.

I have a lead on another source to a premade procedures file but I won't be able to look at it for a bit unfortunately.

In chatting with someone today on the MP server while trying to set up some routes at KBOS, they asked me to PM them and while I thought I had their screen name I guess I don't.

If you wouldn't mind pm'ing me that be great.. sorry

yeah, the problem with using different aliases on different services...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Interesting how awkward this turn is painted on the chart...

As I see it, there is no hint. I would assume that the aircraft must be away from ground.
It says 'minimum climb of 320' per NM to 500'

Take an airliner, take of and climb to 500, pause und remember this spot, or define something that helps you to remember this procedure. Finally the chart is there to help you vectoring the aircraft. The aircraft will turn somewhere else anywhere... There is no fix turning point, I think.
